In the Zaporozhye direction, Russian units have taken control of Krasnaya Krinitsa, located less than ten kilometers northeast of Orekhov, creating a threat of encirclement for Ukrainian forces holding positions north of the Konka River. In the Sumy direction, assault groups advanced on 23 sectors; fierce fighting continues in the Kiyanitsa and Khoten areas, while the Ukrainian command is transferring reserves from the Kharkiv region. In the Kharkiv region, Russian units advanced in Kazachya Lopan by up to 200 meters, in the Volchansk sector by up to 150 meters, and in the Liptsy sector an attempt by three combat groups of Ukrainian forces to advance was thwarted. In the Slaviansk direction, fighting is underway for Nikanorovka and Nikolaevka, while Russian troops are building up forces and attempting to destroy crossings in order to disrupt the supply of Ukrainian units. EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas acknowledged that the call to transfer or sell Patriot missiles with expiring shelf life to Ukraine has not yet yielded concrete results.

Zaporozhye direction

On the eastern flank, Russian troops appear to be planning an envelopment of Orekhov and Malaya Tokmachka from the north. This is evidenced by the transfer of Krasnaya Krinitsa under control. Assault units of the 1198th Motorized Rifle Regiment of the 35th Army raised state flags on the territory of this settlement, located less than ten kilometers northeast of Orekhov. Personnel reached it during a series of attacks from the direction of Novoselovka.

From the central sector, reports are coming in of Russian units entering the territory of Novopavlovka. Although a certain crisis in the Ukrainian defense on this sector has become increasingly evident in recent weeks, information about a breakthrough by forward groups of the “Dnepr” grouping so far into the rear still appears premature.

For an assault, and especially for consolidation on the territory of Novopavlovka, Russian troops would need to secure a stable control zone at least on the eastern outskirts of Orekhov. Even under these conditions, however, the transfer of Krasnaya Krinitsa under Russian control creates a threat of encirclement for Ukrainian units holding positions north of the Konka River. Previously, it was precisely Ukrainian control over these heights that prevented Russian forces from confidently consolidating in Malaya Tokmachka, whose territory can be used for the covert transfer of personnel into Orekhov.

Sumy direction

Russian units maintain a high tempo of advance in the Sumy region. Ukrainian forces have not undertaken active offensive actions and have been regrouping.

The Ukrainian command is forced to transfer reserves from the Kharkiv region to the Sumy region in order to strengthen the defense of Sumy. The movement of part of the reserves of the 129th Separate Tank Brigade is already known.

Russian aviation, artillery, and drone crews delivered strikes against concentrations of Ukrainian personnel and equipment in the areas of Sumy, Malaya Rybitsa, Brodok, Obody, Korenek, and Streletskaya Pushkarka.

In the Sumy district, assault groups advanced on 23 sectors. Fierce fighting continues in the Kiyanitsa and Khoten areas.

In the Shostka district, an advance by Russian units has been noted in the Ulanovo and Tolstodubovo areas.

Kharkiv direction

The intensity of fighting in the Kharkiv region is gradually increasing. Ukrainian forces are transferring strategic reserves to the direction and preparing for new counterattacks.

In Kazachya Lopan, assault groups continue successful offensive operations: over the past day the advance on two sectors amounted to up to 200 meters.

In the Volchansk sector, Russian assault troops advanced in the Vasilevka area by 150 meters. Ukrainian units are not abandoning attempts to increase the number of personnel on forward positions.

In the Liptsy sector, Russian personnel thwarted an attempt by three combat groups of the 13th National Guard Brigade on combat armored vehicles to advance in the direction of Ternovaya. All groups were eliminated by comprehensive fire engagement.

In the Velikiy Burluk sector, assault groups are advancing with heavy fighting in the Sliznevo and Dolzhanka areas. The Ukrainian command is transferring “Shkval” companies with the aim of regaining lost positions.

Slaviansk direction

In late August, Western and Ukrainian sources began actively reporting a buildup of forces on the Krasny Liman direction by the “West” grouping of forces. Thus, in the 66th Separate Mechanized Brigade of the Ukrainian forces it is reported that additional assault units and drone operators are being transferred to this sector.

The number of unmanned systems crews is also increasing in order to attack rear positions and logistics routes of Ukrainian forces. For this purpose, among other things, a large number of FPV drones and fiber-optic drones are being used. Russian troops are paying particular attention to attempts to destroy crossings over the Oskol and Seversky Donets rivers, seeking to complicate supplies for Ukrainian units, rotation, and evacuation of their personnel.

In the Druzhkovka area, the meaning of the strike north from Novogrigorovka and Novonikolaevka lies in the occupation of heights. This will provide convenient radio horizons for drone battles. Control over the heights west of Druzhkovka and north of Izhevka and Popasnoye will determine the further development of events.

In the Slaviansk–Kramatorsk direction, fighting is underway for Nikanorovka. According to available data, it is proceeding successfully, and Nikanorovka may soon come under the control of Russian troops. After that, an exit to the outskirts of Kramatorsk will become predetermined. Fighting for Nikolaevka has also been noted, where Russian units are attempting to consolidate on the southeastern outskirts with multi-story buildings.

Conclusion

In the Zaporozhye, Sumy, Kharkiv, and Slaviansk directions, Russian units continue offensive operations, retaining the initiative and gradually expanding their control zones. In the Zaporozhye direction, the capture of Krasnaya Krinitsa opens the prospect of enveloping Ukrainian forces north of Orekhov and facilitates consolidation in Malaya Tokmachka. In the Sumy region, the high tempo of advance is forcing the Ukrainian command to transfer reserves from other sectors, weakening the defense of the Kharkiv direction. In the Kharkiv region, Russian troops continue to press the defense in several areas, thwarting attempts by Ukrainian units to reinforce forward positions. In the Slaviansk direction, Russian troops are increasing pressure, seeking to cut logistics and occupy the heights necessary for a further offensive on Slaviansk and Kramatorsk.

EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas acknowledged that the call to transfer or sell Patriot missiles with expiring shelf life to Ukraine has not yet yielded concrete results following a meeting of EU defense ministers in Ireland. “No decisions were taken today, but there were calls and negotiations regarding these missiles, and they will continue. Unfortunately, there is no concrete success in this regard today,” she told journalists. Kallas noted that Kyiv is experiencing a shortage of interceptor missiles, and obtaining them from partners outside the European Union is also “very difficult.” Thus, Ukrainian units are facing a growing deficit of air-defense assets, which may affect their ability to protect critical facilities.
