The Russian military has captured a German-made Leopard 1A5 main battle tank from Kiev forces for the first known time.
Photos showing the Leopard 1A5 captured near the city of Pokrovsk in the Donetsk direction were posted to social networks on September 7. The tank, which was upgraded in Ukraine with Kontakt-1-style explosive reactive armor blocks and a retractable anti-drone net, appeared heavily damaged.
The bodies of at least two slain soldiers were found nearby, along with a Czech Republic flag and a number plate from Norway.
Since late 2023, more than 100 Leopard 1A5 tanks have been delivered to Ukraine. The tanks were supplied by Germany, Denmark, and the Netherlands. Dozens more are set to be shipped to the country. Some were bought from private contractors in Belgium and Italy. A Swiss company was reportedly indirectly involved in one of the deals.
The Leopard 1, which first entered service in the 1960s, is the forerunner of the more advanced Leopard 2. The tank is armed with a 105 mm Royal Ordnance L7A3 L/52 rifled gun. It features moderate armor, only effective against low caliber autocannons and heavy machine guns.
The A5 version is equipped with a day\night capable targeting systems, comparable to the ones installed in early Leopard 2 versions.
Kiev forces have been deploying its Leopard 1A5s in a very limited manner as most of these tanks arrived in a very poor operational status. Still, over 20 have been already destroyed or damaged by the Russian military.
It’s worth noting that Ukraine also received some 60 Leopard 2s of A4, A6 and the Swedish Stridsvagn 122 version, which is similar to the A5, from Germany and other backers over the past two years. More than 50 of these tanks have already been lost.
Ukraine placed great hope on Leopard tanks, especially during the spring counteroffensive of 2023. However, it quickly became clear that these tanks were not any better in terms of survivability than the ones the country inherited from the Soviet Union. In fact, they required more complex maintenance, placing additional strain on Kiev forces.

german tanks captured in russia. many, many years after the first. mostly intact. the german people have no real wish to attempt invasion of russia again. yet too many populations are completely ruled regimes that do the central banker cartels dirty business. did brexit completely succeed ? no ! it did not ! the shadow rulers remain. this tank is a simple example for all who might see.
idk anymore i prefer to see the uncensored, real world battle damage done to these ukroreich sheep. i would particularly enjoy seeing the photos of the deceased nato pigs who are the reason for this evil affair. that would be satisfying at this point, war mongering dirt bag thieves and liars.

no surprise from a “neutral country” that works hand in hand with rome, to prolong wars for profiteering, not to mention organ harvesting, child trafficking etc.
