Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces Valery Gerasimov reported to Russian President Vladimir Putin on the completion of the operation to liberate the Kursk region from the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
“Today, the village of Gornal, the last settlement on the territory of the Kursk region, has been liberated from Ukrainian units.
Thus, the defeat of the armed formations of the armed forces of Ukraine that invaded the Kursk region has been completed. The plans of the Kyiv regime to create a so-called strategic bridgehead and disrupt our offensive in Donbas have failed.

During the operation, the enemy suffered significant losses and had to constantly transfer reserves and units from other areas to the Kursk direction in order to maintain the number of its group at the level of about 60 thousand people. The total losses of the formations of the armed forces of Ukraine amounted to more than 76 thousand people, servicemen, killed and wounded. In fact, one part of the original enemy grouping was knocked out and even more. Over 7,700 units of military equipment were destroyed, including 412 tanks, 340 infantry fighting vehicles, 314 armored personnel carriers, about 2,300 other armored combat vehicles,” Valery Gerasimov reported.

Gerasimov also confirmed the participation of military personnel from the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) in the operation to liberate Russian territory. He noted that acting shoulder to shoulder with Russian soldiers, they demonstrated fortitude and heroism.
Measures are currently being taken to identify military personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine who are trying to hide.
Vladimir Putin has congratulated and thanked the personnel of the units involved in the defeat of neo-Nazi groups.
“The Kiev regime’s adventure has completely failed, and the enormous losses suffered by the enemy, including among the most combat-ready, trained and equipped, including with Western models of equipment, AFU forces – these are assault units and special forces – will undoubtedly affect the entire line of contact.
The complete defeat of the enemy in the Kursk border area creates conditions for further successful actions of our troops in other important areas of the front and brings closer the defeat of the neo-Nazi regime,” Vladimir Putin said.

It is reported that the presence of AFU forces remains exclusively in several gullies and ravines along the border.
