On October 27, Russian warplanes carried out seven airstrikes on a headquarters of the Turkish-backed Syrian National Army (SNA) located near the town of Kah in the northern Idlib countryside, which is a part of the Greater Idlib region.

The headquarters, which used to host militants from the SNA’s 23rd Division, was completely destroyed as a result of the airstrikes. Casualties were reported.

A few hours earlier, Russian warplanes carried out four airstrikes on militants’ positions in the outskirts of the town of Mashon in the southern countryside of Idlib.

Turkish-backed factions and al-Qaeda-affiliated groups, led by Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham, violate the ceasefire in Greater Idlib, which was brokered by Russia and Turkey last, on a regular basis.

The most recent violation took place as Russian warplanes were bombing the region. SNA militants fired a salvo of rockets at the government-held town of Nubl in the northern Aleppo countryside. Two civilians were wounded.

Instead of reinforcing the ceasefire, Turkey continues to show unlimited support for its proxies in Greater Idlib. The Turkish military deployed some 200 military vehicles in the region on October 26.

Turkey is attempting to deter the Syrian Arab Army and its allies who are reportedly planning to launch a new ground operation in Greater Idlib. The army and its allies don’t appear to be intimidated by the Turkish military buildup in the region as proven by the recent airstrikes on Kah and Mashon.
