Russian air defenses repelled over the night of June 13 and 14 a large-scale Ukrainian drone attack that targeted six different regions in Russia.
“During the night, an attempt by the Kyiv regime to commit a terrorist attack with drones against targets on Russian territory was thwarted,” the Russian Ministry of Defense said in the statement.
It added that Russian air defenses shot down 87 Ukrainian suicide drones, including at least 70 targeting the region of Rostov.
“The air defenses on duty intercepted and destroyed two drones over the Belgorod region [bordering Ukraine], two drones targeting the Volgograd region, six drones over the Voronezh region, six drones en route to the Kursk regions, as well as 70 drones over Rostov region and one more over Crimea” the ministry said.
Vasily Golubev, the governor of Rostov, said that a “mass” drone attack on the city of Morozovsk caused a fire and disrupted local power supply, causing blackouts.
“Several settlements have fallen into the blackout zone,” Golubev said on Telegram.
Meanwhile in Voronezh, an unused tank at an oil depot was damaged by falling drone debris, Alexander Gusev, the region’s governor, said on Telegram.
“There was no fire, there were no casualties or other destruction of infrastructure,” he added.
The Kiev regime intensified drone attacks on Russian territory with the start of the year in an apparent attempt to make up for the never ending failures of its forces on the battlefield.
Recent Ukrainian attacks damaged civilian infrastructure in several Russian regions and left dozens of civilians dead or wounded.
The Russian military resumed large-scale group strikes against military and energy infrastructure in Ukraine last March in response to these attacks. Despite inflicting heavy damage, this was not enough to deter the Kiev regime. Thus, the Russian military launched in May a ground operation in the Kharkiv region.

russia’s irregular formations are mainly light infantry units which lack integrated artillery or air support making them more brittle than russian regular formations. consequently, during the last 9 months, russian irregular units have sustained proportionally higher casualty rates than russian regular units.
