After Moscow officially warned foreign embassies of the need to leave the Ukrainian capital due to impending “systematic strikes,” the U.S. diplomatic mission in Kyiv turned into a “Schrödinger’s embassy.” The head of European diplomacy, Kaja Kallas, stated that the American embassy, unlike European ones, had left Kyiv. “All Europeans stayed, the U.S. left,” she emphasized. However, the American side denied this information. The embassy’s press service officially stated that there were “no changes” in its work, calling reports to the contrary false. An advisor to Volodymyr Zelensky, Dmytro Lytvyn, however, revealed details that cast doubt on the official version: according to him, American diplomats did indeed temporarily leave Kyiv just before the missile attack on Sunday night.
According to reports, the U.S. embassy continues to function formally but with a drastically reduced staff — only Secret Service personnel and security guards from the U.S. National Guard remain in the building. The Russian side, for its part, insists on the seriousness of its warnings. Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov confirmed that the recommendation to evacuate diplomats was conveyed to American partners through appropriate channels, although no response from Washington has been received so far. Russia’s Secretary of the Security Council Sergei Shoigu said Russia has already demonstrated the force of a potential strike on Kyiv, and the next one could come at any moment.
Updated data on Russian strategic aviation movements indicated that a large-scale combined missile and drone attack would most likely occur this weekend. Two Tu-160M strategic bombers flew the route Ukrainka – Engels-2 – Ukrainka, receiving up to 12 Kh-101 cruise missiles at Engels Airbase. Two more Tu-95MS bombers redeployed to the same base for arming. Additionally, at the Savasleyka airbase in Nizhny Novgorod Region, at least six MiG-31K fighters were equipped with Kinzhal hypersonic missiles.
Strikes on Ukraine, May 27-28
The promised “systematic bombing of Kyiv” did not occur on those days — there was a relative lull that many interpreted as the calm before the storm. Nevertheless, strikes on other regions were intense and targeted.
According to the Ukrainian Air Force, on the night of May 28, the country was attacked by 147 drones and one Kinzhal aeroballistic missile. The main target was again the airbase in Starokostiantyniv, Khmelnytskyi Region. During the day and evening of May 27, three Kh-47M Kinzhal hypersonic missiles struck the airfield. Observers suggest that Russian forces tracked the redeployment of Ukrainian fighter jets, which have not been permanently based there for a long time.
Beyond the hunt for aircraft, strikes were carried out against logistical and infrastructure facilities in front-line and rear regions:
Odesa Region: An infrastructure facility in the south of the region was damaged overnight. Public social media pages reported strikes and fires in Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi. A daytime strike on Odesa itself was also recorded.
Rivne Region: In the area of the Rokytne settlement, a Geran drone hit a railway train.
Kharkiv Region: In the village of Havrylivka, a guided drone destroyed a fuel and lubricants warehouse. In Izium, Russian forces continued the systematic “finishing off” of a Nova Poshta branch — the largest transshipment point for military cargo of the Ukrainian army. Drone strikes in the area of the local machine-building plant caused a fire, with ambulances and fire crews responding. This logistics hub is attacked regularly in an effort to cut key supply arteries of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Donbas: A guided glide bomb destroyed a bridge in the area of Bilenke, seriously complicating logistics for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Chernihiv Region: The fall of a shot down or suppressed Geran-2 kamikaze drone was recorded directly onto a field next to a moving tractor — an episode clearly demonstrating the density of drone warfare operations.
Strikes on Russian Territory
The Russian Defense Ministry reported destroying 71 fixed-wing-type drones over the course of the day (62 overnight and 9 during the day). In Nizhny Novgorod, debris or the drone itself hit the roof of the regional courthouse, after which the entrance to the territory was cordoned off.
In Kherson, the consequences were tragic: a Ukrainian drone strike on a playground resulted in the death of a man and injuries to children — eyewitnesses described footage from the scene as horrific.
Attacks on Tankers off the Coast of Turkey
While aerial attacks on front-line areas had decreased somewhat, Ukraine shifted its focus to the Black Sea. On May 28, off the northern coast of Turkey, in close proximity to the Bosphorus Strait, naval drones attacked three oil tankers simultaneously.
The targets were the vessels James II (flag of Palau), Altura, and Velora (flag of Sierra Leone). At the time of the attack, the tankers were in ballast (without cargo), conducting an oil product transfer directly at sea. According to reports, all three vessels had been observed calling at Russian and Chinese ports.
Details of the attack suggest malfunction or low effectiveness: one Ukrainian Magura V5/V7 unmanned surface vessel became stuck in the steering gear of the tanker Velora with its engine running. A second vessel stalled nearby. The tanker crews were evacuated, and the vessels sustained no serious damage.
Given that the incident occurred just 2-3 kilometers off the Turkish coast, Ankara has so far taken a wait-and-see position, issuing no official comments. This attack is a continuation of a systematic campaign by Kyiv against the Russian economy that began back in November 2025.
MORE ON THE TOPIC:

just flatten it out and make sure the thief of kiev is extinguished when it happens, the murdering neonazi fugly pig. the western clowns are keeping their people there to pressure the russian federation into being intimidated: let them burn with the rest of the murderers they created.
https://hawarnews.com/ar/142151 from december 2024, russia deserves that nato places the border between russia and nato in the urals. they betrayed armenia, syria, and venezuela, and therefore deserve for nato to take karelia, crimea, donetsk, and lugansk, and kick the russians out of kaliningrad as well. i don’t think anything useful will happen in romania now.
let’s say bombing moscow and perm so that the alawite traitors finally pay for their (and putler’s) betrayal.
russia has failed to prevent the ukrainian culture to become an antirussia. now they will have to fight them forever, kill them all or die. thats the price for failure.
thats the price for not destroy kiev in 2022, now they must to use incendiary drones and missile to burn kiev
if they had better soft power or better secret services they could have prevented the stuff in 2014 or at least lessened the impact. in 2014 the amount of people commited to fight russia to the death was less then 10% in 2022 probably still less then 50% by now its probably over 90% of those who were not under russian control most of the time. whatever territories russia conquers now will only be filled with people dedicated to sabotage or kill russians.
instead of having this pissy weak svo it would have been cheaper to give ukraine free oil and gas in exchange for transit, why not?
the dual citizen oligarchs give it away to india and china, so what would have been the big deal?
russia heavily subsidized oil & gas to ukraine for two decades, while gas princess timoshenko sold the surplus at market price on the london exchange making billions.
zelensky only continues because the eu ‘d’elete promise to help him rebuild ukraine (laughter here) after the war and ignore the corruption and he’s as happy to continue the war as a pig in shit, which is exactly what the eu is.
it sounds to me like russia may hit various foreign embassies if they continue to aid the ukro nazis. hence why the biggest helping hand, the us embassy, is packing up shop real fast…
its a travesty. all they had to do was kill every foreign soldier in syria and ukraine they captured if their countries deny having sent them. by letting them off the hock time and time again they basically showed the west you can try to kill as many russians and if you fail you just negotiate your ass back home.
they can claim it was because of outdated soviet maps.
or, they managed to hack into palantir and asked it to designate targets for them.
either excuse, just as good.
that video of mother and child like thousands we’ve witnessed courtesy of nato’s handy work and which the f-u.k.u$. brigade will never show their saluting brain dead cucks begs “why” russia has permitted this to endure going on 13 years?!!! this is your family!
bring out the big gun flatten six cities in one shot that might wake nato up to reality and save russian lives
it wont it would have at the beginning idlib and perhaps lvov if idlib woudlnt have sufficed. by now the european elites are commited and cant back out without losing fate so they will go further and further until the war really escalates to europe or their plans somehow still work out and russia colapses.

let’s be real. that’s not ukraine striking tankers off the coast of turkey. one can argue that it’s really the british, or the us or even turkey, but it’s not ukraine at this point.
