Russia plans to produce about 10,000 of its new “Dan-T” cruise missiles in 2027 for use in strikes on Ukraine, according to a Ukrainian military analyst.
The inexpensive, hard-to-intercept munition can currently be launched from both ground and aerial platforms, including Su-25SM3, Su-30SM, Su-34 and Su-57 fighter jets as well as the Mi-28 attack helicopter, the analyst known as kriegsforscher wrote in a post on X on August 28.
“In my opinion, in 2027 we should expect an extremely large number of problems from these cheap missiles, which are difficult to intercept. The Russians plan to produce about 10,000 missiles of the Dan-T alone in 2027,” the analyst said.
He also shared an illustrative image of a probable dual launcher for the missiles mounted on what appears to be a KAMAZ truck.
“The flight range of the missile is 500 km with a warhead weighing 135 kg,” kriegsforscher said.
The analyst stressed that the mass production of the low-cost missiles is likely to sharply increase the number of threats in 2027, with significant numbers expected to be launched from ground platforms, ships, aircraft and other aviation assets.

Maj. Gen. Vadym Skibitskyi, deputy head of Ukraine’s Defense Intelligence directorate (GUR), also referenced the precision munition in an interview on August 10.
“Now the Russians are trying to completely switch to components of their own production. For example, one of the tasks set for the ‘Dan-T’ is for the entire component base to be theirs,” he said.
The Dan-T is designed to strike armored vehicles, fortified field positions and light infrastructure. Its technical characteristics are similar to those of the S8000 “Banderol,” a munition launched from the Mi-28 helicopter and the Orion combat drone.
A recent report from Table.Briefings revealed that work is underway to equip the Dan-T with a Kometa-16 jamming-resistance GLONASS antenna array along with an electro-optical terminal guidance system.
Russia’s Aerospace Forces command is considering a full shift to procuring only the Dan-T while gradually phasing out the Banderol, according to the report, which noted that one key reason is a roughly 35% lower cost compared with the earlier munition.
If these claims are true, then Russia will be able to launch close to 1,000 Dan-T cruise missiles against Ukraine each month next year. With drone interceptors incapable of dealing with such fast jet-powered munitions, Kyiv could easily deplete its more expensive anti-aircraft missiles attempting to counter this threat, which is just one of many.
