Russia Ignores Kyiv’s Ceasefire Ultimatum, Launches Massive Night Strikes Across Ukraine

In a clear defiance of Kyiv’s demand for a month-long ceasefire, Russian forces carried out another large-scale night attack on Ukraine, deploying over 100 UAVs and striking multiple regions, including critical infrastructure and military logistics hubs. The attack, which began late on May 11 and continued into the early hours of May 12, targeted areas from the south to the north of the country, demonstrating Moscow’s unwillingness to follow Kyiv’s provocations aimed at gaining time for necessary rotation and reinforcement.

According to the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Russian forces launched 108 attack and decoy drones, from multiple directions: Bryansk, Oryol, Shatalovo, Millerovo, Primorsko-Akhtarsk, and Chauda in Crimea. Ukrainian air defenses, electronic warfare units, and mobile fire groups allegedly intercepted 55 drones, while another 30 decoy UAVs were reportedly lost without causing damage.

Despite these efforts, the Ukrainian military officially acknowledged damage in the Odessa, Mykolaiv, Zhitomir regions and in the DPR.

However, during the day much more Russian strikes were reported across the country. According to military monitoring strikes, Russian drones and missiles struck targets in the DPR, Sumy, Kharkiv, Zaporozhie, Kherson, Odessa, Mykolaiv, Cherkassy, Zhitomir, Kyiv, Khmelnitsk, Dnepropetrovsk regions.

The southern Odessa region came under another wave of concentrated massive strikes. Over 20 large explosions thundered in the town of Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi, with fires breaking out. The settlement serves as a critical supply route for Western arms through Romania.

Another series of explosions thundered in the area of Voznesensk military airfield in the Mykolaiv region, with infrastructure damage reported.

Russian strikes were also reported around the capital in the Kyiv region, including in Bila Tserkva, Zgurov, Brovary. In Zhitormir region, explosions thundered on the outskirts of the city of Zhitomir and in Berdychiv. The targets reportedly included warehouses storing weapons and ammunition.

Kyiv had earlier demanded a month-long ceasefire to allow the rotation of the scattered units on the battlefield and secure new military supplies from the West, but Moscow has ignored such provocative ultimatum, opting instead for continuation of intensified attacks.

The latest wave of attacks underscores Russia’s readiness to continue the military operations, targeting both frontline positions and deep-rear supply lines, together with proposals of peace negotiations. Ukraine faces continued pressure as it scrambles to defend its skies and critical infrastructure.
