On March 17, the Russian Foreign Ministry announced that 23 employees of the UK Embassy in Moscow will be expelled from Russia in response to the similar move made by the UK.
“A total of 23 diplomatic employees of the UK Embassy in Moscow are declared personae non gratae and must leave [Russia] within a week,” the ministry said in a statement.
The ministry also revoked its agreement on opening and operation of the UK Consulate General in the Russian city of St. Petersburg. Russia also suspended the activity of the British Council over the lack of proper regulation, regarding its status.
The ministry added that Russia retained right to respond if the UK continued to take unfriendly steps.
Meanwhile, UK ambassador to Russia, Laurie Bristow, was also summoned to the Russian Foreign Ministry in Moscow.

The Geopolitics around all of the violence occurring in the Middle East including Afghanistan Syria, Iraq is largely about the battle for hegemonic control by the USA at a time that China is becoming more powerful. The USA has been so nasty to so many countries its real leaders in the Deep State are fearful that their wealth and power will be greatly reduced, and that there are many aggrieved people who would like to give them the same treatment they meted out to Gadaffi and Saddam Hussein. Given that they have milked and mistreated their own people there is some in America who would be happy to get rid of the ruling elite.
They are desperate to stop the Russian Syrian and Iranian alliance from succeeding against their proxy army for this will encourage others to take them on at a time they are stretched financially and militarily to the point of collapse. Do not think that the CIA will not carry out stupid forms of revenge that makes you think these geniuses are spoilt brats. As someone who has been targeted by them I know they can be as petty and puerile as an angry 2 year old who has had his lollies taken away.
It is a tragedy that the West refuses to budge from its selfish greed for power and control given that we are all facing massive challenges with the advent of climate change and need to put our collective effort into dealing with the ecological survival of the planet. We cannot do this when we are at each others throats and are being led by blind fools.
The irony of the Syrian misadventure is that the primacy of oil is fading as we adopt clean energy technologies and can synthesize oils and plastics from biological materials. Ironically if the money that is being used for weapons and slaughter were diverted to designing and implementing the new technologies greater wealth could be generated across our economies than for the dead end production of oil.
To me this holding on by the establishment is a strong indication that the deep state is the real power in the USA and the UK and spreading to countries like Australia and Canada..

The shutting of the British Council is literally Putin sanctioning Russia on behalf of the West (see the unbroken history of British assistance to Russia since the revolution, and especially during WW2- and actually the Cold War as well).
