The Russian military launched one of its most powerful group strikes against defense factories and affiliated energy facilities in Ukraine over the night of October 2 and 3, with Kiev responding with more “deep strikes” that ultimately failed to make an impact.

Russian Strikes On Ukraine:

The Ukrainian Air Force said that the Russian strikes involved at least 381 Geran, Gerbera and other types of suicide drones, in addition to up to 35 missiles, mainly made up of ground-launched Iskander-K land-attack cruise missiles which is unusual.

Per usual, the air force alleged that most of the missiles and drones were intercepted. It admitted, however, that 78 drones and 18 missiles hit 15 targets.

“The enemy carried out the largest mass attack on gas production infrastructure since the beginning of the war,” Ukraine’s state-run gas company Naftogaz admitted in a statement issued later.

“As a result of this attack, a significant portion of our facilities have been damaged. Some of the damage is critical,” said Naftogaz chairman Sergiy Koretsky.

From its side, the Russian Ministry of Defense said in a statement that “enterprises of the Ukrainian defence industry and the facilities of the gas and energy infrastructure that maintained their work” were stuck, adding that “the goal of the strike has been achieved.”

A report issued by Reuters later revealed that main targets hit were key gas facilities in the regions of Kharkiv and Poltava. The attack forced suspension of operations at multiple plants and left over 8,000 consumers without power, according to the report.

Analysis of data from NASA’s Fire Information for Resource Management System and other open-sources confirmed that the strikes inflicted heavy damage on the Yablonovskoye gas processing branch in Poltava, as well as on the the Shebelinka gas field and two main gas pipelines in the areas of Zmiyiv and Hlazunivka in Kharkiv.

Ukrainian Strikes On Russia:

Russian air defense forces shot down 20 Ukrainian suicide drones over several regions overnight, according to the Russian MoD.

“Starting from 23:00 p.m. on October 2 and until 7:00 a.m. Moscow time [from 9:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m.], on-duty air defense assets destroyed and intercepted 20 Ukrainian fixed-wing unmanned aerial vehicles: nine UAVs in the airspace over the Black Sea, four UAVs over the Voronezh Region, three UAVs over the Belgorod Region, three UAVs over the Republic of Crimea and one UAV over the Kursk Region,” the ministry said in a statement.

Ukrainian media alleged that the Orsk oil refinery, located about 1,400 kilometers from the Ukrainian border, was hit. It also reported that the drone attack briefly disturbed operations at the Azot chemical plant, one of Russia’s largest, in Berezniki, more than 1,500 kilometers east of Moscow.

Ukraine’s “deep strikes” are clearly becoming less and less effective. In order to re-escalate, the Kiev regime has been openly seeking help from its allies.

On October 3, NBC News reported that the administration of United States President Donald Trump was planning to provide additional intelligence to Ukraine to help it strike at oil and gas facilities inside Russia. A separate report published on the same day by The Times, revealed that the United Kingdom has already begun assessing Kiev in planning strikes on Russia by providing intelligence and targeting data.

Despite this support, it seems that Ukraine’s request for Tomahawk land-attack cruise missiles from the U.S. may not go through.

According to a report published by The Financial Times on October 3, some Trump advisers believe that supplying Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine will not significantly change the situation on the battlefield or the Kremlin’s position. One of the publication’s sources said the president remains opposed to using American taxpayer funds to aid Ukraine, preferring that NATO allies foot the bill.

A separate report released by Reuters on the same day said that the U.S. Navy was in need of all available Tomahawk missiles, thus supplying any to Ukraine was not likely.

Even if the missiles were not supplied, a decision to escalate has been clearly taken by Ukraine, the U.S. and the UK. Russia is guaranteed to meet escalation with escalation.

zelenskyy’s ukraine is on its way to the stone age. “doing” the bridges and dams in the dnieper would expedite everything. if ukrainians are unwilling to get rid of the clown then they deserve it.
