Roadside Bombing Kills 2 Senior Somali Military Officers

Two senior military commanders were killed in a roadside bomb explosion near the city of Mogadishu on February 5. The vehicle of Colonel Abdisalam Sheikh Aden was struck by the explosion shortly after leaving a military base in Dhanane. He was deputy commander of the 12th April Division, one of the biggest military sectors in Somalia.  Another officer, Colonel Abdirahman Jimale Muse, who was in charge of the finances for the first battalion of Somali army, was killed.

The incident came just 2 months after his several other senior officers were killed in the same area by an IED explosion. On December 6, General Omar Aden Dhabad, the commander of the 12th April Division, and his deputy general, Abdi Ali Jamame died in the IED explosion.
