FILE IMAGE: Republican Guard members are in the Deir Ezzor Airbase
Syrian government forces, led by the Republican Guard, have regained the electric sub station from ISIS terrorists at the Harabesh Mountain northwest of the Deir Ezzor Airbase.
According to pro-government sources, about a dozen of ISIS members were killed in this advance.
This advance is a part of the government forces effort aimed at linking up the government-held part of the Deir Ezzor city and the Deir Ezzor Airbase. The Republican Guard and its allies stil have to recapture about 20 km of the area from ISIS terrorists in order to achive this goal.

They gone have very hard time to make any advances in that area or I will say impossible right now, as ISIS additional reinforcements came from Mosul and Raqqa. The was a time when SAA could liberate Deir ez Zor, but this before offensive in Mosul and Raqqa. Now is to late. In addition, as long as the SAA does not liberate area North of Palmyra and South of Dayr Hafir and SOuth and NOrth meet, there is very little chance of liberate Deir ez Zor
There are many reports that ISIS has sent reinforcements from Deir ez Zor and other locations to Raqqa. So maybe it’s time to push in Deir ez Zor . When ISIS are defeated in Raqqa they will withdraw to Deir ez Zor and then it will be much more difficult.
