The Russian-sponsored reconciliation process in the southern Syrian governorate of Daraa appears to be going according to the plan.

On September 28, the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) was deployed in the town of Tasil and nearby areas in the western Daraa countryside under a reconciliation agreement that was earlier accepted by the locals.

Army troops were accompanied by a force from the Russian Military Police which will oversee the implementation of the agreement.

Less than 24 hours after the deployment of SAA troops in Tasil, a pro-government gunman and a civilian survived an assassination attempt inside the town. The attack may have been related to personal issues.

A day after Tasil agreement, sources in Daraa reported that local leaders from the town of Nawa had met with Syrian officials. The town will reportedly join the reconciliation process on September 30.

According to the London-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, more than 2,900 wanted gunmen have joined the Russian-sponsored reconciliation agreement in the western Daraa countryside, so far. The gunmen handed over more than 650 weapons.

The success of the Russian-sponsored reconciliation process in Daraa has encouraged Jordan to reactivate the Nassib border crossing with Syria. The crossing was officially reopened on September 29 morning. This step is expected to improve the livelihood of locals in Daraa.

The reconciliation process will likely end soon. Syrian authorities still have to make efforts and develop better relations with the locals in order to maintain security and stability in the governorate.

Everyone knows he is an idiot stooge who is told when eat, sleep & crap. A disgusting “gov” clown.

SOHR probably works on private interests not governmental.

It seems that the Syrians are getting closer to Egyptians, Jordanians and Saudis.
