Rebels Launch Large-Scale Offensive In Syria’s Aleppo, Make Gains (Videos)

File image.

Several militant groups based in the northwestern Syrian region of Greater Idlib launched on November 27 a large-scale offensive against the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) in the direction of the western Aleppo countryside.

The offensive, codenamed Operation Deterrence of Aggression, began in the early morning under the command of al-Qaeda-affiliated Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), the de-facto ruler of Greater Idlib.

In the first few hours of the offensive, the militants took the SAA by surprise and managed to advance several kilometers, relying mainly on suicide attackers. By the afternoon, the towns of Anjara, Ajil, Sheikh Aqil, Bala, Hairdrakal, Qubtan al-Jabal, Salloum, al-Maari Association, al-Qasimiyah and Hawr had reportedly fallen into the hands of HTS and its allies.

The militants took heavy losses while advancing as a result of SAA artillery strikes as well as airstrikes by both the Russian Aerospace Forces and the Syrian Arab Air Force.

This was the first time Syrian warplanes had bombed targets in Greater Idlib since Russia and Turkey brokered a ceasefire in the region on March 5 of 2020. The HTS-led offensive constitutes the most serious violation of the ceasefire to date.

The SAA also took some losses, with Syrian pro-opposition media reporting the capture of as many as five troops and the destruction of at least one main battle tank.

Over the last few months, several reports talked about a plan by HTS and its allies to launch a large-scale offensive against the SAA in order to take advantage of the distraction caused by the ongoing Israeli war on both the Gaza Strip and Lebanon.

In addition, Russian intelligence warned recently that the secret services of the Kiev regime were actively providing support to militants in Greater Idlib.

The SAA took precautions. However, this was not apparently enough. The battle in the western Aleppo countryside will likely go on for weeks, if not months. The militants are currently just ten kilometers away from Aleppo city, thus the SAA and its allies will have to counter-attack.

Clubofinfo

Cromwell

RPG22inmygymbag

i agree. where is the syrian army? the entire syrian air force got destroyed? if not, where are they? i’ve been saying it for the longest, many of these conflicts, the strategies and decisions made make no sense. things that should have been over with drag on and on. syria. russia and now gaza/lebanon? what’s really going on?

and what about nato?…taliban takes kabul in an offensive and nato fled

kotromanic

taliban where never a threat cause the only backing they ever had was pakistan and it went away the moment they started fighting against the usa. the taliban winning in afghanistan means nothing globaly. if al quaida topples assad they go next to iran to iraq to the stan countries and then to russia and china cause they are backed by the west and funded by the gulf arabs.

Al Bosni

that is right.

Gurki

i’d not say: “the taliban winning in afghanistan means nothing globaly.” rather the opposite. it clearly presented to the whole world prove that a tiny but determined force, even without own weapon production industry, and with much less troops than their opponent, can win the war. afghans won 3 wars against 3 superpowers (great britain, soviet union and usa) all in one century !!!

Anti-ishell-,usa

that’s what happens when you get into “deals” with the nato rats, which if it serves as a lesson for the war with the nazis, any stupid agreement will be broken.

hopefully russia will see the need for assad to take idlib now. syria should plan an offensive to push everything out and kill the turks if they are still there

russia should roll out the tactical nukes and let turkey know and advise them to withdraw. if they want to do something further, the nukes are polished and ready to go.

unluca

and obviously all this is a coincidence. these fighters for freedom and democracy woke up just now when russia is under the heaviest pressure on the western front. nevermind, fab and odab will rain down soon and western media will comfort us saying that russia will soon run out of bombs. for the past 30 months didn’t happen, but tomorrow…….

assad defeated zionists

putin must squeeze the most out of this crisis, take the opportunity & teach the psionist sponsored qaeda-hts terrorist & their west masters, a lesson about russian firepower. russia should do like israel, warn civilians to leave areas before both russia & assad unleash massive strikes on hts terrorists using missiles, gliding bombs, hypersonics, rockets, artillery, thermobarics, barrel, cluster, phosphorus bombs & all kinds of landmines. if israel does why cant russia

but many syrians like fsa and hts

assad defeated zionists

and i like a lot of ukrainians but not those who work for the empire of evil.

Furkan

okay so hate you fsa and hts more than jews ?

assad defeated zionists

i hate hypocrites who think the rules don’t apply to them but are quick point fingers.

Furkan

but jews and fsa are same
no good people

its like asking if you hate the gun more then the hand that operates it.

Cromwell

some do so they should pay the price.

Furkan

i hope bro

assad should not kill them but force them to emigrate to western countries…. because…. you know… “terrorism is part and parcel of living in big cities.”

assad defeated zionists

according to reddit, qaeda-hts terrorists captured a russian soldier. if true the british terrorist sponsors got lucky and can now exchange their captured war criminal mercenary for the russian soldier with just a simple call to their qaeda-hts proxies.

the islamists are directed by western intelligence and satellites to the weakest spots in syrian defense🤫

Cromwell

that’s why the russians should have blasted those illegal us bases in syria to hell.

assad defeated zionists

send the invincible and dreaded tiger forces, kadyrovites, and may be some north koreans too and this terrorist incursion will be over faster than zelenskyy’s kursk fiasco.

those forces all have other reasons to do what they do every victory of the tiger forces brings the moment closer when its leader will try to replace assad or at least demand a position of power within the assad system or else turn against him just like prigoshin and with khadirov the same will happen its all the same no matter where. successfull warlords want the power in the end.

TomB.

250k saa army with russian air support unable to defend against 30k idlib terrorists?
as i sad long ago and many times, the idlib cancer must be burned to the ground.

its was created with russian help cause from every town and region that was liberatd from al qaida it got send to idlib. there was probably some kind of deal to hand it over to erdogan.

Shlomo's little weenie

yes, there is a history of deceitful expedience in this neck of the woods. a few divisions of chechens would run amok with these wahabbi arse apes. imagine getting reports back of captured jihadi apes being ritually skinned alive. 🫨 no northern shitrael hospitals for them. all fugged by hezzies.

so in lebanon hezbolah will no longer be stationed anywhere near the isreali border and the pro western sunite army will be in charge there. and now the pro western rebells are relaunched to attack assad again. seems this axis of resistance just gave their enemys a reason to destroy them. iran will hold back while its allies are obliterated.

idlib should have been liberated years ago, it’s a running sore.

given the manpower shortage in the region of the saa, it will likely take months of fighting to drive out the terrorist factions.

funny how these “syrian rebels” can fight syrian military and hex ollah and various palestinian groups but won’t fire a single bullet at israel. these guys are clearly nato, israeli, and gulf arab forces under the pretense of being rebels.

RPG22inmygymbag

so this is why the treacherous turks and gulf arabs haven’t done anything to help the palestinians. they’ve been too busy planning their offensive against syria and by default against the palestinians. you can’t make this stuff up. and they waited for hezbollah and fakesrael to have a ceasefire. how disgustingly slimy is that. these people have no honor.
