Rebel Infighting Erupts in Besieged Eastern Aleppo

AlMasdarNews reports: Despite being entirely encircled by the Syrian Arab Army (SAA), two major Syrian rebel groups began attacking one another in Aleppo’s eastern districts on Wednesday.

For reasons unbeknownst to Al-Masdar News, Islamist fighters of ‘Harakat Nour al-Din al-Zenki’ stormed several checkpoints held by the Free Syrian Army’s (FSA) Fastaqim Union in the Salaheddine District and Al-Ansari Mashhad neighbourhood and arrested dozens of FSA fighters along with leading commander ‘Istakem kma Oumrt’ on Wednesday.

In response to the arrests, the Fastaqim Union opened fire upon positions held by Harakat Nour al-Din al-Zenki. According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR), the infighting resulted in the death of 1 militant and injured 25 more.

Remarkably, both rebel groups are backed by the United States government and have received U.S. manufactured TOW anti-tank missiles.

Skirmishes are ongoing in eastern Aleppo as we speak; meanwhile, the Abou Omara Brigade and Jabhat Fatah al-Sham were said to have joined the clashes on behalf of Harakat Nour al-Din al-Zenki.

In the not so distant past, rebel infighting has plagued the Syrian Opposition in several rebel-held regions, including Idlib, northern Hama and the East Ghouta. In the latter two cases, the infighting was exploited by the SAA to advance.

This is not a good sign for the ‘rebels’. They need every able bodied fighter, not less able bodied fighters. I can imagine they must be going out of their minds in general. They had it so good, not so long ago. The East Ghouta pocket began to collapse, not long after this stuff started over there.

Hopefully Harakat Nour al-Din al-Zenki get rekt hard, maybe Fastaqim even give away positions Syrian Air Force doesn’t already know, so al-Zenki beasts can get exterminated faster. They’re child beheaders, CIA agents, mass murderers of civilians, hostage takers, rapists, paedophiles and what else, In my opinion targeting them is even more important than Jabhat Fateh al-Sham

Good let them eat each other until there’s no one left. Maybe that’s why Putin refused air strikes. It will be good for the SAA as trying to attack a besieged enemy in an urban setting directly would have yielded losses.

Its too bad that the outside world is involved. In truth none of these so called rebels will ever go back to what they did before. If left alone they would turn on each other. Its the same all over the world once they taste the power that comes from the gun, they don’t let it go lightly. If SAA had the time they could effectively sit this one out and let them eat each other. But the situation does not allow for it.
