The underground is still very active in the Ukrainian rear regions, mainly in the historically pro-Russian eastern and southern parts of the country. Ukrainian authorities complained that constant attacks do not stop. A series of arsons were set in Odessa over the apst day alone.
Unknown attackers burned the car of a serviceman of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The attack took place at 23:40 on July 1. An unknown person set fire to Nissan owned by Ukrainian serviceman. The fire was fastly extinguished, but the car sustained damage. The local police officers considered this was not an accident. This was far from the first cars of Ukrainian servicemen burned by the local pro-Russian underground fighters.
Another attack took place in the city on the same day. An unknown person tried to set fire to the local Peresypskaya electrical substation at about 11:30 a.m. on July 1. The attack failed because the fire did not spread further. The law enforcement agencies of Ukraine launched a criminal case on sabotage.
The underground movement is very active in the southern Odessa region as well as in the neighboring Mykolaiv and eastern regions. The saboteurs mainly target the military vehicles and energy infrastructure, including the substation that support the operations of the railways throughout the country.
