The pro-Iran Handala hacking group announced on January 3 that it had hacked the phone of former Israeli interior and justice minister Ayelet Shaked.
“For years, Shaked stood on podiums, preaching security, authority, and the fight against her enemies. But now, her messages, documents, and confidential information about Hamas, Iran, and behind-the-scenes decisions are in our hands,” Handala claimed on X. “Stay tuned; parts of what we have uncovered will soon be released, so everyone will know.”
The hacking group shared some 60 photos and videos it said were stolen from the phone of the former right-wing minister.
Many of the materials shared by the group were personal, but some were related to the work of Shake, including several photos showing Shaked signing Justice Ministry documents and meeting with former prime minister Naftali Bennett in a government office.

Handala also shared conversations from the former minister’s WhatsApp account, in which he was apparently pushing for the assassination of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.
“During the 12-day war, Ayelet Shaked sought, through unofficial means, to orchestrate an attack against the Leader of the Free, Imam Ali Khamenei,” the group said on X, warning that “any attempt to harm him will carry irreversible consequences, Ayelet.”

Shaked didn’t comment on the material published by Handala. The hack may be the same one reported by Israel’s Channel 12 in August. At the time, the Israeli news channel said that the former minister had been informed by the Shin Bet security agency that Iran hacked a phone belonging to her during the 12-day war.
Handala claimed several cyber attacks on Israel after the outbreak of the war in the Gaza Strip, with many of the attacks involving hacking senior officials of the country.
Last week, the group leaked materials from the phone of Tzachi Braverman, chief of staff of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Prior to that it announced the hacking of Bennett’s phone. The group also claimed to have hacked former defense minister Benny Gantz, former foreign minister Gabi Ashkenazi and former prime minister Ehud Barak.
