Political Violence In U.S.: Ukraine Relieved Of Critic As It Losses More Ground

Russian forces secured more gains in the special military operation zone between September 10 and 11, with reports of at least two settlements being captured in the Pokrovsk direction. Meanwhile Ukraine’s only gain came in the shape of another episode of political violence in the United States which claimed the life of a well-known critic of support for the Kiev regime.

Ground Situation – Key Fronts

Pokrovsk–Mirnograd: The Russian military pushed forwards in this direction under the cover of air and artillery strikes. Troops managed to capture Sosnivka and Novomykolaivka in the Dnipropetrovsk region, dealing a heavy blow to Kiev forces. Pockets of resistance are still present near both settlements, and multiple Ukrainian counterattacks have been reported, but to no avail so far. The Russian advance in both settlements could be a sign of a nearing collapse of Ukrainian defenses in this direction.

Konstantinovka–Druzhkovka: More Russian strikes targeted Kiev forces in this direction. According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, three mechanized brigades of the Ukrainian military and a territorial defense brigade were hit there. The recent strikes appear to have crippled Kiev forces’ ability to launch counterattacks in this direction, at least for the time being.

Northeast (Sumy, Kharkiv–Kupyansk): Heavy fighting continued near Yunakovka and its surroundings in the Sumry region. Kiev forces dispatched large reinforcements, including special forces as well as western-made armored vehicles and artillery, nearby over the past day. Still, the Russian military managed to repel two counterattacks. Kiev forces took heavy losses.

The Russian MoD also reported multiple engagements near Kupyansk and Izyumskoye in the Kharkov region, with Ukrainian losses there.

Zaporizhzhia and the South: Kiev forces brought in large reinforcements and intensified attacks with FPV suicide drone over the past day. Still, the Russian military advanced in Stepnogorsk. A Ukrainian counterattack was also repelled on the left bank of the Volchya River in Volchansk. In addition, Russian attacks were reported close to Orekhiv and in the direction of Mala Tokmachka.

Kherson: The Russian military remains focused on limiting the movement of Ukrainian boats in the Dnipro River. At the same time, the Russian MoD reported more strikes on Kiev forces in Olgovka and Antonovka.

In the Black Sea: the Ukrainian military intelligence attacked a Russian Project MPSV07 rescue ship with a suicide drone in Novorossiysk Bay near Krasnodar Kra. Overnight, operations by Ukrainain boats, possibly unmanned, were also reported near the same area.

Political Front:

The most important event of the last 24 hours was without a doubt the cold-bloded assassination of Charlie Kirk, a prominent conservative activist in the United States, a founder of Turning Point USA, and well-known critic of the Kiev regime.

Charlie was fatally shot during a speaking event at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah. The 31-year-old was struck in the neck by a single bullet fired from a rooftop, approximately 200 yards away, while debating at his “American Comeback Tour.” President Donlad Trump, who himself survived two assassination attempts before taking office earlier this year, personnel pronounced the death of Kirk, praising the late man’s political work. Utah Governor Spencer Cox later called the killing a “political assassination.”

The suspect, believed to be college-aged, remains at large, with a high-powered rifle recovered. Their motives remain unclear.

The assassination was praised by many from the left-wing in the U.S., with some citing Kirk’s stance on Ukraine as a just reason to celebrate his death.

Kirk opposed U.S. military and financial aid to Ukraine, calling the Russia-Ukraine conflict a “border dispute” and criticizing President Zelenskyy as a “CIA puppet.” He even criticized Ukrainian past attacks on the Donbass and argued that U.S. funds should not support a country “few can find on a map.”

In a post to X, Dmitry Medvedev, deputy chairman of Russia’s Security Council, linked the assassination of Kirk to “left-wing liberal scum who support Banderite Kiev.”

He suggested that the Trump-led MAGA movement should recognize that supporting Ukraine equates to supporting “murderers,” also referencing the attempt on the live of the Prime Minister of Slovakia Robert Fico last year.

The assassination of Kirk will for sure bring relief to some in Kiev. However, many in the U.S. will also see the killing as a reason to review their stance, especially when it comes to causes championed by those on the far-left like Ukraine.

Conclusion

The latest military developments bring nothing new. Russia is still making gains and Ukraine is still losing ground, all while suffering heavy material and human losses. Kiev forces clearly lack the resources, especially when it comes to manpower, to keep the situation on all fronts under control. The country’s situation is slowly deteriorating. Still, those in Kiev appear to be not that interested in any settlement. And while relying on aid from the West, especially the U.S., has saved Kiev from a complete collapse, so far, the political tensions developing within this political axis could soon end this support, or at least limit it.
