On February 14th, a 17-year-old Palestinian was shot dead by Israeli soldiers near the town of Jenin in the West Bank.

The teen was identified as Mohammed Abu Salah. He was killed in clashes with security forces in the village of Silat al-Harithiya. According to the Palestinian health ministry, dozens of other civilians were injured.

On February 13th, Israeli soldiers carried out a security operation in the village. It was aimed to demolish the home of Muhammad Jaradat, who was accused of killing an Israeli settler on December 16. The floor of the Jaradat’s family house was demolished by explosives.

The raid provoked discontent among the locals. Dozens of Palestinians from neighbouring villages reportedly went to Silat al-Harithiya.

“The troops identified a number of armed rioters, and fired towards them in order to neutralise the threat,” a statement by the Israeli military reads.
