On October 10, the conflict between Israel and the ruling Hamas group in the Gaza Strip has been going on for 4 days. It is high time to summarize the first results of the armed clash.
First of all, one of the most serious circumstances are two groups of events, for the sake of which, in fact, the breakthrough of the Israeli border was organized:
1) Numerous liquidations of senior commanders and specialists from the Israel Defense Forces;
2) The seizure or infiltration of Israeli command posts.
At the current moment in the media there are circulating data about the deaths of 2 generals (Hamas also claims to have captured 4), 5 colonels, a lieutenant colonel and an IDF major. It is noteworthy, firstly, that the dead are related to the Israeli special operations forces and army intelligence, and secondly, that some of them were liquidated together with their families – this indicates a possible preliminary introduction of Hamas loyalists’ mop-up teams, which obliterated the command staff as early as the morning of October 7, thus paralyzing defense coordination in the south of Israel (and this probably explains the significant disorganization in the actions of the Israeli police and army).
Specifically known casualties among Israeli army personnel:
Ariel Ben Moshe, commander of the special forces company of Israel’s most elite unit, Sayeret Matkal. Also from the special unit “Sayeret Matkal” was killed its member Amir Skouri.
Amit Guetta, who is a member of Israel’s special sabotage unit Maglan, part of the 89th Oz Special Forces Brigade.
Shilo Cohen and Ido Rosenthal, who were members of the Israeli Air Force special unit “Shaldag”, their tasks were to scout for targets and guide aircraft to the target.
We also have direct reports from the IDF of the capture of the Gaza Division headquarters and the navy center, which were held by “militants” for many hours. In addition, a number of smaller but important facilities, along the lines of forward intelligence posts, were also captured.
It is simply not possible for irregulars, such as those seen in much of yesterday’s video footage provided by Hamas, to seize such important facilities on short notice. Likewise, every few hours a new name of a senior IDF officer who has been eliminated appears, a number that already exceeds the number of Israeli sergeants and lieutenants who have been killed (and is obviously in response to the assassinations of Iranian officers from various structures organized by Israeli intelligence over the past year).
Hamas or its partners have demonstrated the highest level of competence. The large number of captives in Gaza seriously constrains the IDF command in action. In fact, the forces directing Hamas (most likely Iran) are provoking the IDF into a large-scale ground operation in the Gaza Strip without adequate air and artillery support (it is also noteworthy that some of the hostages are tourists from Western countries, for the capture of whom Hamas used part of its paragliding force; in short, this was a prearranged action that increases the overall value of the hostage fund).
In a dense urban environment, Israeli firepower will be largely leveled, and the IDF will have to operate in enemy territory with infrastructure prepared for it (underground communications, warehouses, barracks, observation posts). Israel has already had the unpleasant experience of “not winning” in such conditions during the invasion of Lebanon in 2006, and it will be no less interesting to see what happens now.
As to the reasons for such a serious Israeli failure, the most likely version is that of extremely serious preparations made by Hamas in conjunction with its patrons. In order to achieve such a result, a whole set of intelligence activities were carried out to create the conditions for a Hamas operation. Prior to the attack, there may have been an agent within the Israeli armed forces, most likely reporting the whereabouts of senior officers. Data-gathering activities were conducted on the personalities in order to study their daily routines, locations, and psychological characteristics. The objectives of these activities were achieved and provided Hamas with an advantage on the battlefield.
Videos are circulating on the internet with ex-military men’s findings that this military action is the result of betrayal by the Israeli army
This country betrayed us back during the CoViD-19 pandemic, with these dangerous vaccinations… The army no longer serves us.
How did the manage to come in with tractors, 400 people and no one paid attention?.. Maybe there is a chance that someone from the inside helped this?
On the other hand, there is another version of the true reasons for the intensification of hostilities. This could be the banal irresponsibility of the Israeli military command in the Gaza Strip. The condition of the contingent is sharply negative, according to the testimonies of persons who previously served in the southern regions of Israel on the border with Palestine, including 2 months before the intensification of the military conflict.
There are two companies with a maximum of 90 units in an 8-kilometer-long area in the border zone, compared to the authorized strength of approximately 130. Taking into account that 2/3 of the troops are awake and one SUV patrols the border area, normal border security cannot be achieved. Moreover, a reserve sergeant of the Israeli army said in his interview to one of the publications that 2-3 months before the conflict he repeatedly reported to his superiors that the patrol vehicles were being hit with rocket-propelled grenades. Attention was also periodically drawn to the fact that with greater grenade pressure, the defensive lines might simply not be able to withstand the militants’ pressure.
Such a version is also plausible, as many Israeli Telegram channels actively describe the situation of irresponsible service by the personnel. Both male and female soldiers are actively shooting videos in Tiktok, stories for Instagram, etc.
In view of the above the reasons for the intensification of the conflict are quite clear. Moreover there is probably not just one set of reasons, but a synthesis. It is quite possible that the IDF’s irresponsible attitude to combat missions on the border was exploited by Israel’s enemies collaborating with Hamas, who received information as part of their intelligence work on that country. It is impossible to determine who is actually behind the Hamas attack on Israeli territory. It is quite clear that several international actors can benefit from fueling the conflict.
interesting that they were able to target the senior staff responsible for border security. you would have thought it impossible, but that might explain the command paralysis. either way, they were definitly given the keys to the castle.
bibi was in deep trouble but now he can become “new hero”. smells like gwb 9/11?
it was a betrayal at the highest levels of the zionist murderers! bibi now has an excuse to commit genocide and implement the final solution against the palestinians just like hitler had a final solution for the jews! the blood thirsty war mongering satanic devils could easily have sent a false video feed to the observers in the bunker so they saw nothing of what was really going on. welcome to reality!
it also gives them an excuse to attack iran. they compare it to 9/11 because they were both inside jobs that can be cause du jour for their continual war against muslims.
sure there are actors who desire more conflict unleashing unstable “leaders” of the region. why though? has history not taught us that in times of a “systemic crisis” such as the present collapsing trans atlantic region, that hell is unleashed to prevent reason from prevailing and installing a new system
it is impossible to determine who is actually behind the hamas attack on israeli territory…..how about giving credit where it is due
