Pakistan’s Defense Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif said on May 4 that the Pakistani Air Force (PAF) had jammed four Indian Rafale fighter jets during an attempted incursion.
“Four Rafale jets were coming from India and were successfully jammed by Pakistan’s forces,” said Asif. “After that, there has been no action from India.”
The minister went on to warn that the threat from India still looms: “We cannot say the threat from India has diminished,” he remarked, urging continued vigilance.
Tensions between the two nuclear powers have been on the rise since India blamed Pakistan for the April 22 terrorist attack on the resort town of Pahalgam.
Pakistan denied any involvement in the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, which was claimed by The Resistance Front. Still, India expelled Pakistani diplomats, closed border crossings, and went as far as halting a vital water-sharing agreement for the first time ever.
Since then, clashes have been reported on a near-daily basis along the Line of Control, the de-facto border in the disputed region of Kashmir.
Pakistani media said that the attempted aerial incursion took place over Kashmir over the night of April 29 and 30 and Indian Air Force (IAF) fighter jets were jammed by J-10C fighter jets of the PAF. An aerial confrontation between the two sides was indeed reported at the time.
Geo TV said that India’s Rafales were armed with munitions capable of hitting targets within a range of more than 200 kilometers, most likely Storm Shadow cruise missiles missiles, at the time of the confrontation, while the J-10Cs were carrying PL-15 air-to-air missiles with a range of up to 300 kilometers.
The IAF operates 36 Rafales. The fighter jets, which were delivered from France between 2020 and 2022, are equipped with the SPECTRA electronic warfare suite, which is supposedly capable of protecting the fighter jet against airborne and ground threats.
The J-10C can be equipped with an electronic warfare pod with unknown capabilities, dubbed KG600. It is unclear however if this was the system employed during the coronation over Kashmir. The PAF has received 20 fighter jets of this type from China since 2022.
The aerial confrontation was first reported after Pakistan’s Information Minister Ataullah Tarar said on April 30 that India may launch a military strike within the next 24 to 36 hours.
India and Pakistan clashed on several occasions in recent years. In 2020, the two came very close to an all out war when the IAF launched a series of strikes against targets in Pakistani territories following a car bomb attack in Kashmir, and the PAF responded by shooting down a helicopter and a fighter jet.

islam has always lost wars. it is an inferior culture to all others. look at arab countries, haven’t won a single major war in over hundreds of years. all thanks to one religion: islam.
