Overview Of Russian Strikes In Ukraine On October 29, 2024

On the night of October 29th, the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation launched new series of precision strikes on Ukrainian rear infrastructure throughout the country. Explosions thundered in the capital and the Kiev region, as well as in the Dnepropetrovsk, Kharkiv, Kharkson, Xhernihiv, Sumy, Zhitomir regions. 

Late on October 28th, Russian forces launched a series of strikes in Kharkiv. The local authorities confirmed attack in the center of the city. The footage from the city showed heavy damage to the building called Gosprom which was one of the first Soviet skyscrapers built in 1920s in the city center. It is not clear if the building was used by the Ukrainian military and the damage it suffered specific damage. According to preliminary reports, the building was struck by Russian heavy bomb. However, the footage shows multiple light damage on several floors, destroyed windows and exterior walls, but the ceilings were not destroyed. Such damage could not be caused by a devastating heavy bomb but rather by Ukrainian missiles of the S-300 air defense system. Most likely the city center was struck by Ukrainian air defense forces who attempted to intercept Russian drones or missiles but failed.

 

 

More Russian strikes were recorded in the town of Chuguev in the Kharkiv region. The point of temporary deployment of the 92nd separate assault brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine was destroyed by Russian heavy FAB-250 bomb. The Ukrainian military was spotted by Russian reconnaissance hiding on the Zlobina street. According to Russian monitoring sources, the attack was launched at the moment when Ukrainian officers held their meeting there. As a result, the Ukrainian unit suffered heavy damage in manpower and military equipment.

The capital Kiev is targeted by Russian drones every night. Last night, explosions thundered in different districts and at least two important targets came under Russian strikes. The local authorities confirmed the strikes,  claiming that the damage to the allegedly civilian facilities was allegedly caused by the wreckage of intercepted Russian UAVs.

According to military monitoring sources, Russian drones struck the Kiev Automobile Repair Plant No. 5, which is used by the Ukrainian military to modernize and repair military vehicles.

The second destroyed target was the special facility of the Security Service of Ukraine located at 4 Mikhail Donets Street, where visual surveillance units and analytical centers were located.

Russian strikes were also reported in the area of the local Zhulyany airfield that was turned into an important logistics hub of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

 

 

Russian Iskander-M missile complex launched strikes in the city of Krivy Rih in the Dnepropetrovsk region. As a result of the strikes, a large fire broke out in the area of the local school number 17. According to Russian military soures, there was another secret facility of Ukrainian special services located. Its destruction is yet to be confirmed.

The rehabilitation center of the Armed Forces of Ukraine was heavily damaged by Russian drone strikes in the town of Kamenny Brod in the Zhitomir region. According to unconfirmed reports, Russian strikes also destroyed Ukrainian air defense system in the region.

Ukrainian energy infrastructure suffered more damage. Russian kamikaze UAVs struck the Progress-110 energy station which provided for the needs of the local military and industrial facilities in the town of Nezhin in the Chernihiv region.

Russian strikes were recorded on the outskirts of Sumy as well as near the town of Akhtyrka in the Sumy region.

The devastating Russian strikes are pounding Ukrainian military and other facilities both in the rear and in the war-torn regions. Military headquarters and hideouts of the Armed Forces of Ukraine were destroyed in the areas of the Donetsk People’s Republic that are under Ukrainian control, including in the villages of Verblydivka, Alekseevo-Druzhkovka, in Seversk, Krasny Liman, Mirnograd (Pokrovsk) etc.
