The Ukrainian Armed Forces carried out a new wave of massive UAV attacks on Russian regions in an attempt to compensate setbacks on the frontline.
Strikes on Russia
In the morning of December 28, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that over the night its air defense shot down 56 UAVs launched at Russian regions by the Ukrainian Armed Forces. 11 UAVs were shot down over the territory of Belgorod region, 28 – over the territory of Voronezh region and 17 – over the territory of Rostov region.
Meanwhile, Belgorod Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov reported that two civilians were injured when a drone exploded in the village of Palatovo.
Voronezh Region Governor Alexander Gusev reported that the contact network on the railway was damaged as a result of the fall of UAV debris, This led to the delay of train traffic.
Acting Rostov Region Governor Yuri Slyusar reported that there were no casualties.
According to the Russian side, during the past 24 hours, air defense systems shot down three US-made HIMARS rockets and 104 aircraft-type unmanned aerial vehicles, including 57 outside zone of the special military operation.
An interesting combat episode happened in Kakhovka direction in the zone of the special military operation. A Russian UAV operator used his UAV to ram and destroy a heavy UAV of the Ukrainian Armed Forces:
“In the course of reconnaissance, a UAV operator of the Northern Fleet Marines detected a Baba Yaga-type heavy drone. Having estimated the situation, the drone operator decided to attack the enemy’s heavy unmanned aerial vehicle, directed the drone on a suitable trajectory, and rammed into the enemy’s UAV,” the Russian Defense Ministry reported.

On December 28, the Russian Defense Ministry revealed in a statement that Operational-Tactical Aviation, attack unmanned aerial vehicles, Missile Troops and Artillery of the Russian Groups of Forces struck the infrastructure of a military airfield, a fuel depot of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, as well as concentrations of manpower and military equipment in 148 areas.
Besides this, according to local media, the Russian military continues its campaign of destroying military infrastructure in the rear of forces of the Kyiv regime. Explosions were reported in the regions of Zaporizhia, Symi, Kharkiv, Odessa, Mykolaiv and Kyiv-controlled parts of Kherson and Donetsk regions.

Just a brief look at the situation with local infrastructure in Kyiv city. The indiscriminate work of Ukrainian air defense forces hitting buildings and falling air defense missiles probably led to more damage to the city than any Russian strikes on military-related objects in the area.
