In the morning of December 27, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that over the night its air defense shot down 13 UAVs launched at Russian regions by the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
Five UAVs were shot down over the territory of Bryansk region, three – over the territory of Kursk region, one – over Belgorod region, one – over Tula region, and one – over the territory of Astrakhan region.
According to the Russian military, from 21 to 27 December 2024, air defense units shot down four UK-made Storm Shadow air-based cruise missiles, one Neptune long-range guided missile, two French-made Hammer guided aerial bombs, 31 U.S.-made HIMARS MLRS projectiles, and 496 fixed-wing unmanned aerial vehicles.
On December 27, Dmitry Yadrov, the head of Russia’s Federal Air Transport Agency revealed that the Embraer E190AR, which later crashed near Aktau, had been unable to land in the Russian town of Chechnya because Ukrainian terrorist drone attacks.
The Azerbaijan Airlines passenger plane that crashed in Kazakhstan this week had to be diverted from the airport in Grozny because it was temporarily closed due to Ukrainian drone attacks, Yadrov said. He added that another reason was poor weather conditions.

Strikes on Ukraine
From 21 to 27 December 2024, the Russian Armed Forces delivered one mass and 37 group strikes by precision weaponry and unmanned aerial vehicles on military infrastructure of the Kyiv regime. The Russian Defense Ministry said that the strikes Inflicted fire damage on energy facilities that ensured operation of Ukrainian defense industry enterprises, infrastructure of military airfields, ammunition depots, fuel depots, workshops, storage areas, UAV launch sites, and UAV training centres. Temporary deployment areas of AFU units, nationalist formations, and foreign mercenaries were also among the targets.
Over the past 24 hours, the Russian Armed Forces continued carrying out strikes on military targets. Explosions were reported in the regions of Kyiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Zaporizhia, Cherkassy, and Kirovograd region and some other areas. Strikes were also reported in the parts of Donetsk and Kherson regions controlled by pro-Kyiv’s forces.
