The Russian military delivered a “mass strike” against Ukrainian energy infrastructure and gas production facilities overnight, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced on March 31.
In a brief statement, the ministry said that “air-based high precision long-range weaponry” and suicide drones were used in the strike.
“As a result of the strike, the work of defense industry enterprises for the manufacture and repair of weapons, military equipment and ammunition was disrupted,” the ministry said. “All goals of the strike were achieved. All the assigned targets were engaged.”
Over the night of March 30-31 Ukrainian media reported Russian strikes on the southern regions of Odessa and Kherson as well as on the western regions of Lvov and Ivano-Frankivsk. In addition, blasts were reported in the capital, Kiev.
Kh-101 cruise missiles launched from Tu-95MS strategic bombers and Geran-1/2 suicide drones were reportedly used in the mass strike.
The Russian MoD announced in the same briefing that the Operational-Tactical and Army aviation along with the Missile Troops and Artillery carried out strikes against the Voznesensk Air Base in the southern Ukrainian region of Nikolayevka overnight.
Three Su-25 close air support jets of the Ukrainian Air Force were destroyed in the pinpoint strikes, according to the ministry.
Earlier this month, the Russian military resumed large-scale strikes against Ukraine after a series of of provocations by Kiev, including dozens of strikes with rockets, missiles and suicide drones on Russian territory as well as cross-border attacks.
Kiev forces sustained heavy losses as a result of recent Russian strikes. The power grid in Ukraine was especially badly affected.

the stats given put by the russian mod are ridiculous. they say the russians have destroyed over 500 ukrainian jets since 2022, but ukraine had less than 250 jets before 2022 and received about a 100 aircraft since. russia has therefore either massively exaggerated ukraine’s losses or destroyed phantom planes.
