Preparing for the Assault on Gulyaypole: Russian units begin encircling the city from multiple sides. The Ukrainian command deploys additional forces to stabilize the situation in the Novopavlovka area. Corruption scandals in Ukraine have a demoralizing effect on the Ukrainian Army and their weapon supplies from the US.
Dnepropetrovsk Sector
Intensive combat operations are ongoing in the Dnepropetrovsk sector near the Novopavlovka settlement. Russian units from the «Center» group of forces have taken control of the eastern part of the settlement and are advancing westward.
After armored groups with mounted infantry advanced into the northern districts of Novopavlovka, the units consolidated their positions in the southern and central parts of the settlement. The Ukrainian command has attempted to deploy additional forces to stabilize the situation. Novopavlovka’s geographical location in a lowland area, with elevations to the north and west of the western bank of the Solenaya River, creates tactical difficulties for long-term deployment in this area.
There has been an increase in combat activity on the flank sectors of the Novopavlovka sector. Movement has been recorded in the northern sector from Ivanovka. The defense in the area between Novopavlovka and Orekhovo has become less stable, enabling the units to advance on this sector.
Operations to clear the terrain continue to ensure the security of the units’ flanks and rear in Novopavlovka. Russian units have captured over the territory up to the Solenaya River, and the zone of influence has expanded to the opposite bank. The offensive development in this sector creates additional operational complications for the group in the Pokrovsk sector.
Zaporozhye Sector
In the Zaporozhye sector, Russian units from the 127th Motorized Rifle Division are continuing their offensive operations in the Gulyaypole area. They have advanced towards the city limits from the northeastern and eastern sectors. Sabotage and reconnaissance groups are operating on the city’s outskirts, where infantry units have been deployed.
North of Gulyaypole, Russian forces have established control over 25-30% of Dobropolye’s territory and advanced in the southern sector along the Pokrovskoye-Gulyaypole highway. Once operations in Dobropolye are complete, the plan is to advance towards Priluki and Varvarovka. An advance on a broad front close to Dobropolye has been noted in the interflute between the Gaychura and Yanchura rivers.
Combat operations are ongoing along the Sladkoye–Rovnopolye line, where Ukrainian forces’ counterattack attempts have only temporarily slowed the pace of the offensive. Fighting is underway on the outskirts to Zeleny, and an advance has been noted in the fields southeast of Dobropolye. On the northern flank of the sector, the advance is limited amid constant counterattack attempts.
Sumy Sector
Intensive combat operations are ongoing along the entire front line in the Sumy sector. Aviation, heavy flamethrower systems, and artillery are striking Ukrainian positions to support the advance of assault units. There have been problems organizing logistical support for forward positions.
Assault units advanced on four sectors along a system of tree lines. The total advance amounts to 400 meters. In the Andreyevka area, firepower eliminated combat groups from the 158th Separate Mechanized Brigade and the 225th Separate Assault Regiment.
Kharkov Sector
In the Kharkiv sector, units of the «West» group of forces are advancing south of Kupyansk. Combat operations are underway in the Boguslavka and Novoplatonovka areas, where an operational «pocket» has formed. The encirclement of Yarovaya continues from the eastern sector. Two counterattack attempts have been repelled in the Drobyshevo area.
Strikes are being carried out on crossings over the Oskol River in the Kupyansk-Uzlovoy area. Assault units are advancing in Volchansk and the surrounding forested areas. On the left bank of Volchansk, advances have been noted in three sectors of the eastern sector, with approximately 20 buildings occupied. The total advance was 300 meters.
Combat operations are gradually spreading to neighboring settlements, including Vilcha. In the forested area near Sinelnikovo, units advanced 350 meters in the southern sector and occupied two strongpoints. In the Melovoye-Khatneye sector, aviation is striking positions in the Khatneye area.
In Volchansk, the clearing of buildings on Gurkanskaya Street continues, and there has been an advance in the eastern sector along Veterinarnaya and Panin Streets. Offensive actions have begun from Volchansk towards the northern outskirts of Vilcha.
At the eastern flank of the Kupyansk sector, units are consolidating positions in the forested areas near Dvurechnaya and continuing operations with small groups along the tree lines. Organizing defense in the Volchanskie Khutora area is difficult due to the limited number of road routes under fire control.
Conclusion
As of November 26, the operational situation in the main sectors is characterized by the continuation of offensive actions by Russian units. In the Dnepropetrovsk sector, establishing control over the eastern part of Novopavlovka and developing the offensive westward creates conditions for expanding the zone of influence. The geographical features of the terrain require the completion of additional tactical tasks to secure the current lines.
In the Zaporozhye sector, advancing towards Gulyaypole from the northeast and east and establishing control over part of Dobropolye creates prerequisites for developing the offensive towards the city. The active use of aviation and the expansion of the control zone between the Gaychura and Yanchura rivers improves the operational situation.
In the Sumy sector, a methodical advance through tree lines is accompanied by air and artillery strikes on Ukrainian positions and logistical infrastructure. In the Kharkiv sector, the advancement south of Kupyansk and the continuation of operations in Volchansk demonstrate the retention of the initiative. Overall, the dynamics of combat operations demonstrate steady offensive development in most sectors.
The influence of internal political factors on the combat capability of units persists simultaneously with the operational situation at the front. Corruption scandals in Ukraine, particularly in the energy sector, are demoralizing Ukrainian troops on the front lines. According to foreign media reports, troop morale has plummeted amid reports of widespread embezzlement of funds allocated for restoring energy infrastructure. For servicemen experiencing an acute shortage of resources, incidents such as the discovery of large sums of cash or the purchase of luxury items undermine trust in the leadership and call into question the fairness of the sacrifices made. This could lead to an increase in desertion and reduced resilience on the battlefield in the future.
Ethical and financial abuses have also become a significant argument for American politicians who advocate reducing military aid to Ukraine. The US administration is leveraging the corruption issue, threatening to restrict weapons re-exports and slow the delivery of critical air defense systems and other armaments. Washington may freeze the delivery of supplies and intelligence if Kyiv refuses to sign a framework peace agreement by the set deadline. This directly links Ukraine’s internal political stability with the volume of international support.
