North Korean leader Kim Jong Un oversaw on May 10 a live-fire test of the “technically updated” version of a 240 mm multiple rocket launch system, the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported.

The test confirmed the “advantage and destructive power” of the rocket launcher and its guided rockets, according to the state-run news agency, which also revealed that the launcher, already tested twice this year, will be deployed to combat units from 2024 to 2026 to replace older weapons.

The agency also said that Kim discussed ways to raise production of the new rocket launcher system and shells to “the highest level.” A “significant change” will be soon made in increasing the army’s artillery combat ability, it added.

The rocket launcher appears to be an upgraded version of North Korea’s M1985/1991 240 mm systems, with the capability to fire a salvo of 22 rockets.

North Korea conducted this year a series of artillery, rocket and cruise missile tests as well as a flight-test of what was described as a solid-fuel intermediate range missile with hypersonic warhead capabilities. It also showcased its most advanced main battle tank in an exercise.

In April, the country fired a salvo of 600 mm rockets from multiple launchers. State-run media described the test as a simulated nuclear counter-attack against enemy targets.

It’s worth noting that inter-Korean relations are at one of their lowest points in years. Pyongyang has declared South Korea, an ally of the United States, its “principal enemy.” Washington also accused North Korea of providing munitions and military equipment to Russia to help boost its operations in Ukraine.

looking good kim jong un, of course they are going to give n.k new toys in the “just in case scenario”. so sad beign at the two sides of the same coin, the same nature in different degrees. the paradox here is, korea will reunificate with the south conquering north or the north will conquer the south? who is going to win, check the neighborhood and you will have some clues about who will win in the projections.

kim dung oaf is a pig who neglects the true needs of his people. i wonder if this missile upgrade is the result of his ammo and trade deals with russia.
