Heavy battles continue in the Kurakhovo direction, where Russian units are achieving new successes, advancing on a wide front and capturing strategically important stronghold.
On the evening of December 3rd, military sources from the battlefield reported Russian control of the village of Stary Terny. The village was a key stronghold of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on the northern flank of Kurakhovo. The control of Stary Terny provides control of the dam and the fire control of the last road west to Kurakhovo. The Ukrainian garrison in Kurakhovo is in operations encirclement.

The mop up operations continue in the western part of Stary Terny but Russian forces do not waste their time. According to preliminary reports, they crossed the dam of the Kurakhovsky reservoir and gained a foothold on the northwestern outskirts of Kurakhovo.
Ukrainian forces are in extremely dangerous situation in Kurakhovo. Prohibit to withdraw, they are expected to hold defense on the territory of the local industrial facilities located on the northwestern outskirts. The Russian army is completing its assault operations in the center. Russian forces reportedly advanced along the southern shore and are likely to soon approach the industrial zone from the east. At the same time, they are likely to expand their bridgehead south of Stary Terny, which allows to surround the Ukrainian garrison and launch attacks on the industrial facilities from the west.
The Russian army is also advancing on a wide front south of Kurakhovo. Attempts of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to stabilize the front along the Bogatyr—Razliv—Sukhye Yaly—Uspenovka line are failing. According to preliminary reports from the front, Russian forces launched assaults on the villages of Konstantinoplskoe and Sukhye Yaly located along the road west of Uspenovka. The offensive operations are conducted by the assault units of the Vostok (East) group of forces, supported by groups of the special forces. Russian advance paves the way for the further flank attacks on Ukrainian forces remaining in the western part of Kurakhovo.
The two strategically important roads used by the Ukrainian military in Kurakhovo and Uspenovka were almost cut off. One of them led to Kurakhovo from Uspenovka through Dalnoe and the second led to Dachne. The Armed Forces of Ukraine that are trying to resist almost encircled in the villages east of Uspenovka are doomed to defeat and have the only chance to escape through the fields northwest of their strongholds. On December 3rd, the Russian military officially confirmed the full control of the village of Romanovka.
Instead of urgently withdrawing forces from the cauldrons, the Ukrainian military command continues sending reinforcement to the area in an attempt to slow down Russian advance in different directions. The Armed Forces of Ukraine attempt counterattacks to repel Russian forces from the recently captured military positions but so far to no avail.
ngl is kinda impressive how ukraine, after being reduced to grabbing invalids on the streets, still manages to hold such a large front, even if retreating. i thought russia would have captured kupyansk by now.
