The frontlines in the Kharkiv region are still inflamed by heavy battles. Russian offensive in the border areas was mainly stopped by large Ukrainian reserves transferred to this direction. However, the Ukrainian military failed to gain back the military initiative and take back control of any settlements. As a result, the ongoing Russian operations are bringing local victories, grinding Ukrainian reserves.
The border city of Volchansk and the village of Glubokoe located near Liptsy remain the main battlefields in the Kharkiv region.
As a result of their counterattacks in the recent weeks, the Armed Forces of Ukraine managed to enter the southwestern outskirts of the village of Glubokoe. Ukrainian forces gained a small foothold in the buildings but failed to advance on the streets.
Russian military sources provided some details of one of the recent Ukrainian assaults on the settlement. According to reports from the front, the Ukrainian military command launched an operation aimed at taking control of the village by special forces. The assault group attempted to cross the local Travyanske water reservoir and launch attack on the western flank of Russian defense in Glubokoe. As a result of the operation, five Ukrainian motor boats reached the Russian bank of the reservoir and Ukrainian servicemen entered the village, advanced towards the center.
As a result of the battle, the fighters of the Russian Northern group of forces managed to surrender the Ukrainian group in the village, and destroy it. Only one Ukrainian servicemen reportedly managed to escape on the boat. The assault operation of Ukrainian special force failed.
According to the latest reports both by Russian and Ukrainian sources, Russian forces repelled the AFU from their positions north of the settlements and ensured their control of the largest part of the settlement.
Heavy battles continue in the center of Volchansk. Russian forces are slowly expanding their zone of control, destroying Ukrainian strongholds and capturing new buildings on a daily basis. The first line of high-rise buildings in the center came under Russian control. Slight Russian advance was reported in the eastern part of the city.
Ukrainian forces on the northern bank of the Volchya River are under close Russian fire control and all the bridges were destroyed by Russian precision strikes. As a result, any military supplies and transfer of dead and wounded servicemen is almost impossible. The remaining Ukrainian forces may soon waste all their reserves.

Meanwhile, the entire Ukrainian grouping in Volchansk risk to be surrounded from the southern direction. On the bank of the Seversky Donets River, Russian forces expanded their bridgehead and advanced about 100 meters in the forest west of Sinelnikovo over the past day.
