Regional states continue their struggle against the ISIS local branch and Boko Haram in the Lake Chad region. Just recently, warplanes and attack helicopters pounded terrroists in the Kagara forest area in Zamfara state. The airstrikes were conducted in the framework of a larger campaign against terrorists in the area.

The Nigerian Army insists that the recent series of successful operations against Boko Haram had significantly weakened the terrorists in the Lake Chad basin.

Meanwhile, Boko Haram militants reportedly abducted 7 people including 6 males and a female from the Buduma tribe and a local leader in the border town of Kinchandi. As to the Islamic State West Africa Province, the terrorist group claimed that it had recently killed 8 Chadian soldiers by a bomb attack. These developments demonstrate that despite the efforts of security forces terrorists are still pretty active in the region.
