The new package was agreed within the $40 billion Ukraine aid bill that Biden signed into law back in May.

According to the US DoD, Washington has now committed approximately $6.8 billion in security assistance to Ukraine since the beginning of the Biden Administration, including approximately $6.1 billion since the beginning of Russia’s military operation in Ukraine on February 24. Since 2014, the United States has committed more than $8.7 billion in security assistance to Ukraine.

Including the initial $13.6 billion aid bill for Ukraine, the US has authorized about $54 billion to spend on the war in Ukraine.

Money are  to provide urgent support, health services and food assistance to Ukrainian refugees inside and outside Ukraine. The latest bill, which had been delayed for a week by the objection of Senator Rand Paul of Kentucky, includes money for logistical support and training for Ukrainian military and national security forces, and for a fund intended to secure the continuity of Ukraine’s government.
Forty percent of the aid has been directed to weapons transfers, to provide medical and intelligence support to allied countries in Europe, and to deploy troops there.

The funds are meant to last through the 2022 fiscal year, which ends on September 30 for the federal government.
