Military Situation In Syrian City Of Raqqah On July 4, 2017 (Map Update)

The US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) are clashing with ISIS terrorists in the Syrian city of Raqqah. However, SDF units have not been able to enter Old Raqqah area despite repeated attempts to do it because of a fierce ISIS resistance there.

It will take some time, but the fate of Raqqah is sealed.

Agreed. On top of that, contrary to this report, SDF sources claim they have breached the wall around the old city on two locations through small bressess.

If one looks on where th actual fighting is, SDF ties another pincher movement centered on the north by isolating the old city.

It is possible the fight for Raqqah city will not take as long as the fight for Mosul. A bigger city,yes but also assaulted by much larger forces with more heavy equipment.

Breach of walls confirmed by US. Already first public buildings there liberated. Hundreds of SDF fighters have entered the old city.

So what is meant by “clashing” and “fierce resistance”? How many casualties? What is happening to the residents? How reliable is the news source?

Hope the SDF brought along water pumps to flood any ISIS tunnels that were missed earlier.
