A brief overview of the recent developments in Syria:
- Hayat Tahrir al-Sham and its allies have carried out a counter-attack in the province of Idlib recapturing Tell Khatrah, Mustayf Hill and Abu Jurayf from the Syrian Army;
- 12 Syrian soldiers were killed and 24 others were injured in the last 24 hours, the Russian military said on January 17;
- Syrian and Russian warplanes delivered a series of strikes on positions of the al-Qaeda-affiliated Turkistan Islamic Party in southwestern Aleppo;
- A car bomb exploded near the Turkish-occupied town of Ras al-Ayn targeting a HQ of Turkish proxies.
