A brief overview of the recent developments in Syria:
- On December 16, an IED exploded in the al-Sumaria area in Damascus causing material damage. No casualties were reported;
- On December 16, the Syrian Army and Russian forces operation against ISIS cells continued in the central desert;
- On December 16, Russia reported that Idlib militants violated the ceasefire regime in Greater Idlib 34 times: 16 – in Idlib province, 4 – in Aleppo province, 15 – in Latakia province, 2 – in Hama province;
- On December 16, Iraq’s Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) allegedly thwarted an Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG) infiltration near the Sihela area;
- On December 15, artillery of Turkish-backed forces shelled positions of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) north of Ain Issa;
- On December 15, Syrian Arab Army (SAA) artillery shelled positions of Turkish-backed forces in the Arhab area.
