A brief overview of the recent developments in Syria and Iraq:

  • The Turkistan Islamic Party blew up a bridge near Inkizik;
  • The Syrian Army reportedly shelled positions of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham near al-Fatirah:
  • A firefight between Turkish-backed militants erupted in Jrabulus;
  • A civilian was injured as a result of sporadic shelling by Turkish-backed forces in Al-Bab;
  • The PMU allegedly detained an ISIS propagandist in Salahadin province;
  • ISIS claimed that it had shot down a helicopter in Rutbah. No evidence was provided by the terrorists;
  • The Iraqi Counter-Terrorism Service announced the killing of Mutaz al-Jabouri, ISIS’ so-called governor of Iraq in an airstrike by the US-led coalition in Deir Ezzor province;
  • The Russian Aerospace Forces reportedly struck a Turkistan Islamic Party position west of Jisr al-Shughur.
