A brief overview of the recent developments in Somalia:
- Somaliland Electoral Commission and the three political parties ( Kulmiye, Waddani, Ucid) agreed to hold the elections within nine months;
- Al-Shabab group targeted US, Kenyan and Somali troops with a car bomb in the village of Jana Abdalle, killing 2 members of Somali Special Forces and wounding 1 US military service member;
- According to U.S. AFRICOM, the US military conducted an airstrike killing an al-Shabaab member in the vicinity of Kurtun Warey.
