- On February 2, clashes between al-Shabab group and government forces were reported in the Doonka area, at least 7 people were killed and several others were wounded
- On January 31, al-Shabab militants attacked Afrik hotel in Mogadishu. 9 people were killed and 4 injured. Also 3 attackers were killed by the security forces
