A brief overview of the recent developments in Afghanistan:

  • At least 3 people were killed and 8 others were wounded in a suicide attack near the gate of the special operations unit in Kabul city on April 29;
  • The US and NATO commander in Afghanistan, Gen. Scott Miller, threatened the Taliban with a military response if attacks continue;
  • 3 civilians were killed and 1 was wounded in airstrikes in the Kohistan district of Badakhshan province, the Taliban reported;
  • A civilian was killed and 2 houses were damaged as a result of airstrikes in the Aqcha district of Jowzjan province, the Taliban reported;
  • 30 government troops surrounded to the Taliban in Balkh province, the group said.
