Military Overview: Ukrainian Army Launched Cross-Border Offensive In Russian Kursk Region

On the night of August 6, the Armed Forces of Ukraine attempted audacious attacks in the Russian border Kursk region. Covered by massive drone strikes and artillery shelling, Ukrainian assault groups crossed the border of the Russian Federation in the Korenevsky and Sudzha border districts.

The Armed Forces of Ukraine accumulated forces in the Ukrainian Shostkin district in the Sumy region, preparing for the ground operations across the border. The manoeuvres of the AFU was spotted by Russian reconnaissance. As a result, Ukrainian grouping came under Russian fire long before the operation began. In its turn, the Russian military was ready for new provocations.

Night clashes:

In the early morning of August 6, the AFU launched massive drone strikes and opened fire with MLRS on the Russian border areas. According to local reports, at least 26 Ukrainian UAVs were destroyed in the Kursk region at night. Unfortunately, indiscriminate Ukrainian fire inflicted heavy damage to civilian infrastructure. Most of the strikes targeted the Sudzha border district, where a border crossing is located.

According to the official report by the local authorities released in the afternoon, at least two civilians were killed and 15 others were wounded as a result of Ukrainian attacks in the region, including children. One of the victims was the bus driver who died on the spot after Ukrainian drone struck the bus.

Damage in Sudzha:

After the shelling, Ukrainian forces launched ground attacks in several directions by small assault groups with NATO armored vehicles and several tanks.

In the Korenevsky district, Ukrainian forces were moving from their positions in Vladimirovka towards the Russian village of Gordeevka. In the Sudzha district, they launched attack towards the town of Sudzha. Another Ukrainian attack was reported near the village of Sverdlikovo northwest of Sudzha.

The main direction of the offensive were the villages of Goncharovka and Kurilovka located on the western and southwestern outskirts of Sudzha. The Ukrainian groups were advancing on armored vehicles and tanks along the local 38K-004 road.

According to preliminary reports, the Ukrainian military initially deployed a grouping of about 300 servicemen taken from different units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Main Intelligence Directorate and the Territorial Defense. In particular, they include militants of the notorious Russian Volunteer Corps created by the Ukrainian and foreign special services to launch media attacks in the Russian border regions. In total, the AFU accumulated large reserves near the border, hoping to continue prolonged battles and open a new front of the war.

The grouping received the special marking of a triangle.

The risky provocations of the Ukrainian military has brought no results so far. The AFU failed to enter any of the settlement. Their main forces were destroyed and repelled to the border. According to the latest reports, some clashes continue in the forest areas on the Ukrainian territory, where the Ukrainian groups attempt attacks, pounded by Russian artillery shelling and airstrikes.

Some military sources claimed that the AFU lost at least 20 servicemen killed and 50 others wounded in the morning battles. The AFU also suffered heavy losses in armored vehicles and other equipment.

In response to the provocation in the border areas, the Russian military launched a wave of strikes in the Ukrainian Sumy region. In less than half an hour, Russian forces launched at least one strike with IskanderM, after which heavy aerial bombs pounded the Ukrainian military, including in the village of Yunakovka, from where Ukrainian forces are trying to break into the Russian territory.

Russian authorities confirmed the battles. The local authorities are assessing the damage.

According to the FSB, “Russian border guards together with the attached units of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation took measures to repel the armed aggression.”

UPDATE: The Russian Ministry of Defense provided the following details:

Today, from 8.00 a.m. Moscow time, the enemy, after massive fire attacked the positions of the units covering the State Border of the Russian Federation by forces of up to three hundred militants from the 22nd mechanized brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, with the support of 11 tanks and more than 20 armored combat vehicles in the areas of the settlements of Nikolaevo-Darino and Oleshnya of the Kursk region, directly adjacent to the Russian-Ukrainian border.

The troops covering the state border, together with units of the border troops of the FSB of Russia, repel attacks and inflict fire damage on the enemy in the area of the state border and reserves in the Sumy region.

Operational-tactical and assault aircraft attacked concentrations of manpower and equipment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the areas of the settlements of Basovka, Zhuravka, Khoten, Yunakovka, Belovody, Khrapovshchina of the Sumy region. Army aviation is effectively used against enemy armored vehicles. The reserves of the Russian group of troops in the Kursk direction moved into the area of the clash.

As a result of the fire damage, sixteen units of armored vehicles of the Armed Forces of Ukraine were destroyed, including: six tanks, two infantry fighting vehicles, four armored personnel carriers, three Kozak armored fighting vehicles and an engineering barrier vehicle.

In its turn, Kyiv keeps silence. Ukrainian official resources do not comment on the attack in any way, obviously waiting for at least some results. Sources of the terrorists from the so-called Russian Volunteer Corps and other units, which are usually thrown into attacks at the border, are also silent. Ukrainian media are lost in their reports. Some claim that the Armed Forces of Ukraine are allegedly fighting in the town of Sudzha and are close to take control of the settlement. Other media assure their audience that all the reports about any battles near the borders are spread by Russian propaganda.

The reason of such confusion in Ukraine is the fact that the ongoing operations are aimed at gaining hype in the media in an attempt to hide the defeats of the Ukrainian army on the Donbass frontlines. Since the attacks result in another failure, Ukrainian propaganda is trying its best to justify Ukrainian losses. Numerous fake reports are likely to be spread by Ukrainian sources and the MSM in the coming hours, like it was the case during all the previous PR attacks in the Russian border regions.

Launching the dare operations, the Ukrainian command likely hoped to force the Russian military to withdraw some forces from the frontlines in the Kharkiv region, including from Volchansk, to reinforce Russian border defense. However, its seems that Russian border guards were ready to welcome the AFU in the Kursk region, while the Ukrainian Army has no enough forces left to launch a ground offensive operation even away from the frontlines.

By trying to capture some Russian territory, Kiev also attempts to improve its position in possibly upcoming negotiations. Negotiations are yet to begin. Meanwhile, fighting continues on the border.

what was the use of this attack by ukrainian idiots? to have more losses in people and combat material? and if they had managed to penetrate a few kilometers, what would they have gained and what would they have lost afterwards? it turns out that they are completely idiots, some sheep sent to the slaughter by the nazi leadership that is subordinate to the globalists

typical neo nazi tactics killing innocent civilians and running away when these same nazis are confronted by the russian armed forces. ukrops are disgusting and exposed the evil underbelly of the eu and nato.

the “evil underbelly” of nato wasn’t exposed decades ago? nato is a us imperialist instrument, and the us empire has proven itself to be as evil as any in history for over one hundred years.

for this attack against civilians in the kursk region alone the russians should fly a fpv drone into zelensky’s bedroom window.

wow the germans invaded and attacked leningrad, moscow and stalingrad among others which we all remember. now there are small attacks on border villages and hamlets which are meaningless for strategic objectives but target a bus driver and children. it looks this is meant to try to lure russian forces away from the main fronts but it only weakens the nazis even more.

russians are like the khokhly, they monetize the conflict without mercy for their servicemen. why aren’t the russians just flattening kiev? because it’s good for them to have a prolonged conflict, too. that’s what is weakening russia as well as ukraine with the latter being too dumb to even understand that they are used by us. too bad!

the russians wage war with cold hard calculating numbers, not cheap media talking points. they are calculating the rate of attrition and demoralization of the nazi junta and waging war based on that. they also have other goals, such as liberating territory, regime change in kiev, demilitarization, nato supports, and taking their global south (china, india etc) partners stances into account. denazification will probably not succeed however

hasbarats

pro western catholic ukrainins are the dumbest slavs in the slavic family, as far as i have observed. there will always be a pro fascist contingent among them. as long as the nazis are confined to a rump state in the west, galicia, where soros will dump western waste there, and poland is tricked into swallowing the poison pill, then it will be mission accomplished
