January 20 came with repots on the further advances of the Russian Armed Forces in the area of Avdiivka around Donetsk and in the countryside of Bakhmut (Artemovsk).
Around Bakhmut, Russian units took control of most of the village of Bogdanovka located 5km northwest of the town. According to most recent reports from the area, Kyiv’s units still remain active in the outskirts of the village.
Pro-Kyiv formations also reportedly had to retreat from some of their positions in the forest in the Kremennaya area. However, despite this, the situation there remains relatively stable.
The most intense fighting is ongoing in the area of Avdiivka and around nearby villages. Pro-Kyiv sources complain that Russian forces made progress south of Kamenka, west of Stepovoe and increased pressure on Ukrainian units remaining in Avdiivka. Most recently, Kyiv’s forces had to retreat from their fortified position called “Musorka” in the vicinity of the town.
Meanwhile, the Russian Defense Ministry released a detailed update on the progress of the special military operation:

In total, 567 airplanes and 265 helicopters, 10,914 unmanned aerial vehicles, 450 air defence missile systems, 14,705 tanks and other armoured combat vehicles, 1,202 combat vehicles equipped with MRLS, 7,795 field artillery cannons and mortars, as well as 17,641 units of special military equipment have been destroyed during the special military operation.
Amid the developing crisis around Donetsk, pro-Kyiv units continue attempts to hold their foothold around Krynki, on the western bank of Dnepr (Dnipro) River. Ukrainian forces remaining there suffer regular casualties, but the Kyiv regime continues sending reinforcements there in an attempt to keep that plot of land for PR purposes.
Photo and video evidence from the ground as well as statements of the sides indicate that the contact line between Russian forces and units loyal to the Kyiv regime remains relatively stable these weeks. Nonetheless, the Russian Armed Forces have been steadily increasing pressure of pro-Kyiv troops in the countryside of Donetsk, especially in the area of Avdiivka, and nearby parts of the frontline.
Russian air strike on positions of Kyiv’s forces in the mine around Ugledar:
The unsuccessful “summer counter-offensive” (or “spring” or “fall” depending on the current trend in MSM propaganda) of the Kyiv regime led to little real results but left a notable part of NATO-trained and NATO-equipped formations defeated. By the start of 2024, the attacks of Kyiv’s forces lost their steam in the south and the Russian military used this to take initiative in its hands around Donetsk.
Russian serviceman tricks Ukrainian FPV drone:
According to the chief of Russia’s Engineering Troops, Lt. Gen. Yury Stavitsky, Kyiv lost over 500 pieces of military and special equipment while trying to break through Russian fortifications during the course of its counteroffensive.
In an interview with the Krasnaya Zvezda newspaper published on January 19, Lt. Gen. Stavitsky said that Russian defensive fortifications have proven to be highly effective against Ukraine’s hardware, including Western-supplied equipment. These losses included 180 pieces of Western-supplied materiel, including German-designed Leopard tanks and US-made Bradley infantry fighting vehicles. Stavitsky said that Russian military engineers made a “significant contribution” to this.
Lt. Gen. Stavitsky stated that by the start of Kyiv’s “counter-offensive”, the Russians had already dug out more than 3,600 kilometers of trenches and communication passages, created over 150,000 trench shelters for equipment, and weaponized over 4,500 dugouts and 12,000 reinforced concrete structures.
“Thus, by the time the enemy launched its counteroffensive, there was already a deeply echeloned system of defensive lines, positions and areas in place that was up to 120 kilometers deep along the entire line of combat,” he explained.
“Considering the scale and timing of the tasks, we can say with confidence that this is an unprecedented case in the history of wars and armed conflicts,” Stavitsky added.
According to him, the fortified defense lines have made it possible to “increase the survivability of Russian troops and the effectiveness of the use of weapons and military equipment by five to six times.”
Earlier this week, Russian President Vladimir Putin commented on Kyiv’s counteroffensive saying that it “completely failed”. He also warned that Ukraine’s statehood is now under threat of being dealt “an irreparable and very serious blow.”
something is wrong with the russians here. if they are that great as presented here, why is there still no end this war? they should have won and left already. this drags on and on and people lose interest in the killing of the nazis
dumbass. russia is fighting all of nato’s money and weapons that are constantly pumped into ukraine. ru
dumbass russia? you fukkin nazi bitch!
well, it took the usa 20 years to win in viet-nam. oh sorry they did not win, my bad
and 20 years to win in afghanistan!
you should learn russian strategy. the point is not to take more land but to destroy the ennemy…. once this is done, the russian army will be able to go where it please it.
i see many explosions in russias future. i don’t want to, but i do
nuž prečo asi? denacifikácia a demilitarizácia ukrajiny a samozrejme už aj zločineckej teroristickej organizácie nato!!! ruské vojská bojujú proti nato, chápeš? zbrane a financie idú zo západu iba bojovníkov dodali banderovskí fašisti z kyjeva. ak by to rus uponáhľal tak riskuje priamy stret s nato!!!
nato foolishly tore up the peace treaties while making sanctions, but the rule of the strong suits the strong. nato has to divide its forces so is weaker in africa and the middle east. this is hybrid war, there were some articles on rt about this recently. iraq & libya were historically soviet aligned, more nato conquests made under the guise of the war on terror could be undone now the game is in play.
you have misunderstood the goals – of course because you are under the influence of us propaganda.
the aid and cooperation agreement between the donetsk and luhansk people’s republics and russia was intended to protect the areas from ethnic persecution by ukraine that began in 2014 and is well documented.
the attempt to arrest zelesky failed, but otherwise the operation has been successful.
they were forced to resign at gunpoint, see section 1.22 min onwards:
put in the search field (southfront.press):
in video ukrainian nazi terror in donbass since 2014
example – odessa ethnic massacre:
odessa massacre how the war in ukraine began
and
odessa massacre what started the war in ukraine
because of these, the east declared independence, to which ukraine responded by attacking
odessa will be liberated and then on to kiev
millions of ukrainians will be future terrorists for russia. i do not see an end to this. never more. think of all the ukr. who fled the country. not all of them are no-nazi. how will you kill them? yeah you go ahead and bomb and celebrate the bombings. but the real terror await you.
wrong again. not all ukras will be terrorists. most will embrace the peace, stability and prosperity provided by russia. about the nazis, the denazification also occurred in (pos war)germany, it’s a process, not a easy one ofc, but it will have to be done, it’s a priority and those who refuse to be denazified can always go to canada where they are welcomed
you dream puppet?
no, it is a fuck puppet
the “slow” attrition by the russian forces against the nato backed nazi forces continues. this approach is the best and means the nazi uki forces burn up their reserves, both equipment and manpower by holding territory they are incapable of defending. to the last ukrainian as ordered by the satanic western political elites.
the nato humiliation must be prolonged–spend more $$$—display your stupidity —reinforce russian superiority; reduce ukraine by size and accept all russian conditions
us senile moron nazi all lick amerikan hillbilly boot if lgbt
the second video is only audio.
i hope one day this will come to usa.
