As of August 21, forces of the Kyiv regime work to develop their advance in the Russian region of Kursk as well as carried out a new series of drone attacks on Russian cities, including Moscow.

The Russian region of Kursk remains the main point of offensive activity of Kyiv’s forces. Over the past few days, NATO-backed formations deployed in the area have received reinforcements and once again intensified efforts to expand their zone of control there.

Ukrainian units attacked in the direction of the settlements of Komarovka, Korenevo, Malaya Loktnya and Russkaya Konopelka. Russian troops assisted by airstrikes and artillery fire were able to repel these attacks.

The Russian Defense Ministry said that as a result of clashes there the Ukrainian Armed Forces lost more than 45 servicemen killed and wounded, two battle tanks, a US-made M113 armored personnel carrier and six armored combat vehicles. Two Ukrainian troops were captured.

Russian forces inflicted damage on concentrations of manpower and equipment of the 22nd, 115th mechanized, 82nd airborne assault brigades of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in Apanasovka, Borki, Vishnevka, Kositsa, Nizhny Klin, Snagost, Sverdlikovo and Kazachya Loknya.

Meanwhile, Russian operational-tactical aviation carried out strikes on areas of concentration of personnel and military equipment of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in Sumy region. The targets were the 22nd and 41st mechanized, 82nd airborne assault, 92nd assault brigades, the 103rd, 106th and 129th territorial defense brigades, as well as the 69th rifle battalion around Belopolye, Boyaro-Lezhachi, Glukhov, Krasnopolye, Novye Virki, Pokrovka, Pisarevka, Mogritsa and Yunakovka.

Russian attack helicopters work in Kursk:

According to the Russian Defense Ministry, over the past 24 hours, the Ukrainian Armed Forces lost up to 300 servicemen and 26 armored vehicles, including six tanks, three armored personnel carriers, 17 combat armored vehicles, as well as two cars, four artillery pieces and two MLRS launchers.

Ukrainian sabotage groups and mobile units still attempt to penetrate deep into Russian territory using forest areas as well as local roads.

Fighting also continue around the settlements of Olgovka and Matveevka. According to data appearing online, the both settlements remain in the gray zone or at least partly controlled by Kyiv’s forces. The situation also tense around Vishneevka where Russian FPV drones recently hit a group of Ukrainian vehicles.

Military Overview: Kyiv Hunts For Chances In Kursk To Cover Up Losses In Donbass

The attacks of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in Kursk region comes amid the slow but steady collapse of their defense lines in the region of Donbass. After the recent loss of the town of New York (east of Gorlovka) and a group of other villages, the Kyiv regime is currently experiencing a developing crisis  around Pokrovsk and Ugledar.

Russian Lancet hits М777 artillery gun on the right bank of Dnepr River:

On August 21, the Russian military officially confirmed that the village of Zhelannoye is liberated, confirming the recent reports about large Russian advances there. According to recent reports, the entire group of villages around Zhelannoe, including Orlovka, Nikolaevka, Zavetnoe, Sergeevka and others are now in the hands of the Russian Armed Forces. The defense of the Kyiv regime is also on the brink of collapse in Kamishevka.

In the sector of Ugledar, Russian troops were able to improve their positions in the vicinity of Konstantinovka and Vodyanoe. Kyiv’s forces also experience difficulties around the town of Chasov Yar east of Artemovsk.

The Kyiv regime likely considers its desperate attack on Kursk region as a chance to draw attention of its sponsors from the losing battle of Donbass and paint itself as the side that keeps initiative in this conflict. Leaders of modern Ukraine do not really care about the cost of this adventure.

propaganda. let’s put it another way. russian chief of the general staff gerasimov has failed. this guy was responsible for reconnaissance and overlooked enemy 10,000 soldiers and hundreds on armored vehicles. during the first world war, it would have been treason and negligence, but in some way excusable. not in the age of satellites and drones. and gerasimov was putin’s pick. so putin is personally responsible for the fact that russia has lost territory

and it is not only about gerasimov. shoigu was another putin’s pick. another example of notorious sycophant, scheming, fawning. shoigu is incompetent military official, whose specialty is only taking bribes and screwing hookers. and he is unfortunately not alone. what about lavrov and his “deals” with western “partners”. what about “minsk agreements” everybody told him, this is shit, don’t do that, but no. they were so surprised that merkel & deceived them.

Clyde

it’s a war. since 2014, is there evidence that the us and their ukrainian proxy is winning?

houhout

and the list of putin’s incompetent lapdogs is endless. and what about peskov, what about the entire duma, which always anonymously agrees on everything putin gives them to sign. it’s a bad joke. look. in this stupid war, 500,000 russians have already died and another 1,000,000 have been forcibly displaced, and why? because of putin and his “deals” with his western “partners”. the idiot is completely incorrigible, and the more stupid he is, the more he thinks he is a genius

not at all …

Nahavar

kiev-nato never had a chance of winning. now kiev will probably even dessapear as state. they don’t deserve better. no matter how many succesfully terror attacks can nato articulate. terrorism doesn’t bring military victories.

Clyde

if 500 000 russians have died, why is the ukrainian military moving relentlessly backwards along the donbas front? that level of loss would indicate overwhelming ukrainian success and the complete destruction of the russian military as a fighting force. why aren’t the ukrainians in donetsk city today if your assertion is true?

Malcolm Z

russia will win this war despite shoigu&gerasimov incompetence and putin working as a business manager instead of a commander in chief of the armed forces

Wallter

shoigu is doing the right thing and not wavering an inch from the specified object and won’t be derailed by an attempt to disrupt the russians by a last minute desperate mkve by zelensky. so while zelensky wastes highly trained forces in kursk, the russians are taking village after village and field after field and will soon be in pokrovsk from where the ukies are sending ammunition and food to the ukies on the eastern fron!

Captain

lets hope! about all we can do at the moment

horror

to be honest, this is not the first time that the russians have shown complete incompetence and ignorance. what happened in kursk couple of weeks ago is a vivid reminder of the russian campaign in finland during the winter war during ww2. putin – stalin, gerasimov – voroshilov, lavrov – molotov. it is so perfect fit, that it is mind blowing. and the main cause is the kremlin’s absolute detachment from reality and contempt for the lives of its own citizens

Clyde

how would you describe the relationship of the ukrainian government to reality? in light of the ato and the conduct of the ukrainian government since the beginning of the smo, do you have any comment on the apparent value of the lives of ukrainians to that ukrainian government?

V for Victory

this may be true but ukraine has full sopport from nato, there was no such a thing in 1939 for finland. where do come from all the intelligence and weapons used by ukronazis?

Kibosh

replace russia with ukraine and finland with kursk and your comments will make sense, otherwise, it sounds more like the sad spin of a sore loser making projections to cope with a reality you are in deep denial of.

Clyde

propaganda? 10 000 soldiers spread across 60km of front, launching what is essentially a series of suicidal raids. characterizing it as anything else is nothing but propaganda.

Joseph Day

also blowing bridges would seem to make advancement difficult.

ChoicesZero

the unintended message to the ukrainian donbass defenders is ‘just make do with what you have’. fresh recruits, ammunition, & military equipment now mostly have to go to the kursk front, as that takes priority. in donbass, maybe retreat and live to fight another day.

Martillo

the rump ukrapper and natostan filth stormed into a cauldron and such morons call it winning. you clowns won’t recognize the end until you are lying bloated and rotten on the steppes. but hey that’s ok too. ask napoleon and the rest of the euro trash that imagined it could steal mother russia’s vast bounty. history is meaningless to the terminally impaired.

Kibosh

yup, nothing tells you your enemy is ready for peace talks like a charge of the light brigade…lol.

Kibosh

if you see your enemy making a huge mistake, you let them make it. gerasimov is not going to loss his job over this one, sirsky might lose his, but not gerasimov.

FOAB

what ever this is, i don’t know? but i know this is the biggest ukrainian meat grinder from the beginning of the smo! more ukrainians will be dead then the deaths in bakhmut

just my opinion!

so the ex-kgb agent creates a pr propoganda stunt like this “putin opens russia as haven for westerners fleeing ‘destructive neoliberal ideas'” zh to bring in the masses from north america and western europe post kursk and “crocus hall”?… when what he should be doing is vacating russia’s seat at the un wh0reh0u$e and bring his foreign service that are russians “home” for good.

not endangering the lives of russian citizens any more than they already have been by bringing in more western terrorism!… there. i said it again!…

absolutely crucial that the twenty-five-year us goal of removing the nationalist russian government is achieved, right?

Conan M

what gave putin the idea that bringing in more americans, canadians and western europeans into russia would be a logical move when drones with ordnance on them are being sent into moscow at this late date with nato inside kursk?… what sort of vetting operation and criteria will be in place to take all of these disenchanted new western immigrants to ensure they won’t be the same ones inside russia “now” flying drones into state buildings? i can’t wait for your response clyde -dazzle me!….

no thanks.

NDR7652

isn’t the problem political ??? russia is still operating under the basis of the minsk accords which are no longer relevant

NDR7653

it is political. putin spends the vast majority of his time on behind-the-scenes political fighting in the kremlin, so he doesn’t give a shit about the ongoing war. he just wants to stay in power and not to be overthrown by disobedient generals. he jailed dozens of them already. purges started after prygozhin decided to deal with the kremlin bigwigs face to face and putin became paranoid. it reminds stalin’s purges. nothing changed in russia.

Clyde

is that what the smo is?

GayClyde

what? southfront said last week that all ukrainians in kursk were killed

how are things going on the donbas line for the ukrainians? got a new ditty cooked up for eurovision 2025? “leavin’ on a jet plane for edmonton”? “wasted days and wasted ukrainian lives”? can’t wait to hear it!

Kibosh

well, aside from the hundreds or so taken prisoner or surrendered… then again, if you don’t actually read the articles and say what ever pops into your head… yeah, you might say naive stuff like that…

Skip 59

putin better get serious … russian air defenses have prevented “one of the largest” ukrainian drone attacks on moscow, the city’s mayor, sergey sobyanin, has said. there were no reports of casualties or damage on the ground, he added.

sobyanin reported the destruction of the first uav near the city of podolsk, some 40km south of moscow, at around 3am on wednesday. shortly afterwards, he stated that two other drones had been shot down in the area…

Clyde

i’m with you and newsweek. that putin guy is sus!

Blow bridges

blowing russian bridges would seem to make advancement difficult. 10 000 soldiers spread across 60km of front of russia main land.

kursk suddenly became a much happier place, out with dictator and russo gestapo, in with democracy and future.

Clyde

what’s the current state of affairs for opposition parties in the failed ukrainian cia project? how about arbitrary arrests?

Kibosh

naw, just a full on cancelling of orthodox churches… meh, perfectly democratic, in a zionist communist sort of way.

Kibosh

you spelled dictatorship wrong… there is nothing democratic about any western democracy, where the reps all sign a declaration of loyalty to israel and its counterfieting rothschild cabal that created it. that’s not democracy, that’s zionist mafia dictatorship… go get arrested for free speech, in your lovely “democracy”…? no, i guess that’s why you ended up on sf. lol, the irony.

we amerikuntized moron anglo envious cuz russian far superior obliterating our mercenaries and ukie nazi while we now need diaper after 20 yrs taliban sodomy

Skip 59

the neocons love mercenaries, for they do not need a declaration of war from congress and can order an invasion of russia, as they have just done, with no accountability. they can start and expand wars for profit and personal vengeance. out of work, mercenaries are so accustomed to violence that they are not easily re-emerged into a society where law and conduct are accountable. there’s a lot of historical evidence for this from the european middle ages when mercenaries were routinely used.

Kibosh

with no accountability???? the russian are counting a lot of bodies and burned gear… i’d say that’s pretty countable accountability…lol.

Kibosh

good article, but how does one cover up losses in the donbass by getting completely slaughtered in kursk?
