On the night of June 2, Russia carried out a massive combined strike against Ukraine. The attack employed a diverse array of air-launched weapons: according to records from the Air Force’s radio technical troops, 729 aerial attack assets were detected – including 656 strike drones of various types and 73 missiles. The identified types included 8 3M22 “Zircon” hypersonic anti-ship missiles, 33 “Iskander-M” ballistic missiles, 27 Kh-101 cruise missiles, and 5 “Kalibr” cruise missiles. The Russian Ministry of Defense described the strikes as a response to “terrorist attacks by the Kyiv regime” and stated that military industrial facilities, energy infrastructure, airfields, depots, and logistics hubs were hit.

Kyiv (City and Region)

At least 10 military-industrial enterprises were hit, including manufacturers of strike UAVs and radio-electronic equipment: the “Abris PT” association, the Special Design Bureau “Spektr” (Spetsialnoye KB “Spektr”), JSC “Mayak” Plant, the state company “UkrSpetsExport,” the “Esmash” plant, the “Generator” plant, and several other enterprises within the Ukroboronprom conglomerate.

Three military enlistment offices were hit, including Recruitment Center No. 8041. Buildings and warehouses were burning in the industrial zones of the Podilskyi and Darnytskyi districts; fires were recorded at the “Darnytskyi” concrete plant, “Nova Poshta” warehouses and the “Vyshneve” logistics center.

There are reports of a strike on Aircraft Plant No. 410 and of a possible detonation at the “Kill House” FPV drone training center of the 3rd Assault Brigade after a Kh-101 hit in the Holosiivskyi district.

Over 41,000 people, including approximately 4,500 children, took shelter in Kyiv’s metro overnight.

Zaporizhzhia Region

Shops at the Omelchenko Machine-Building Plant, the “Motor Sich” aircraft engine building plant, and the “Zaporizhtransformator” transformer plant were hit. Local authorities noted intense fires and a characteristic “green glow” from burning metal alloys.

Dnipropetrovsk Region

An enterprise of the company “Fire Point,” which produced components for long-range strike UAVs and rocket weaponry, as well as a logistics center, were hit. A drone strike on a TCC building resulted in the deaths of 11 servicemen. Damage was recorded at the Yuzhny Machine-Building Plant (YuMZ) trolleybus depot, along with other strikes on industrial facilities.

Kharkiv Region

Strikes hit three districts of the city (Osnovyanskyi, Slobidskyi, Kyivskyi): 15 strike UAVs and two ballistic missiles. Three defense industry enterprises were hit, including the Kharkiv State Aviation Production Enterprise, along with fuel and energy complex facilities. Fires were recorded at the Shebelynka gas condensate and oil processing complex.

Other Regions

In the Sumy Region, the Shostka State Powder Plant “Zvezda” was hit. In the Poltava Region, a gas processing plant was damaged. In the Rivne Region, an oil depot was hit near the settlement of Nova Lyubomyrka.

Strikes also affected industrial zones, railway junctions, and port facilities, with reports of hits in Mykolaiv, Chernihiv, Odesa (port and logistics infrastructure), and Reni / Izmail / Kilia – the key Danube ports involved in transshipment of liquefied gas and petroleum products. The infrastructure of six military airfields in various regions was also hit.

Strikes on Russian Territory

The Russian Ministry of Defense announced the destruction of 148 Ukrainian UAVs over nine subjects of the Russian Federation.

  • The Ilsky oil refinery in the Krasnodar Krai was on fire following a drone strike.
  • “Hornet” type drones also struck an oil depot in Feodosia (Crimea).
  • The Dzhankoi railway station (Crimea) was destroyed.
  • Ukrainian sources reported damage to the dry cargo ship “Leonid Pestrykov” in the port of Berdyansk; this information has not been officially confirmed by the Russian side.

Analysts and monitoring agencies note that May was a record month for the intensity of aerial attacks. According to AFP, in May, Russian forces launched approximately 8,150 drones and over 200 missiles at Ukraine, a 24% increase compared to April.

The Ukrainian side is documenting the scale of the strikes and emphatically highlighting the destruction of defense industry and logistics enterprises.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that one of the key directions for future Russian strikes has singled out Ukrainian companies demonstrating progress in developing all types of missile technologies. Citing intelligence data, he warned of the likelihood of another massive strike as early as the night of June 3. He again noted a shortage of anti-aircraft missiles and air defense systems, which prevents Ukraine from “shooting down a significant portion of the missiles.”
