A satellite image released by Chinese satellite company Mizar Vision on June 21 revealed massive deployment by the United States Air Force (USAF) at Saudi Arabia’s Prince Sultan Air Base, some 120 kilometers away from Riyadh, the capital of the Kingdom.
The image, which is dated June 19, shows 22 KC-135 aerial tankers, 53 fighter jets, most likely all F-16s, in addition to ten C-130 cargo planes at the air base. Additional USAF aircraft may be parked inside some of the base’s hangers and hardened shelters. More aircraft may have also been deployed there in the past 48 hours.
This massive deployment comes amid an unprecedented Israeli attack on Iran, and reports suggesting that the U.S. was preparing to join in.

A similar buildup by the USAF was reported at Jordan’s Muwaffaq Salti Air Base, which is located around 100 kilometers away from the Kingdom’s capital, Amman.
Although there are still no fresh satellite images of Muwaffaq Salti, recent reports revealed the development of some 12 F-22 stealth fighter jets at the base.
Earlier this week, it was revealed that USAF evacuated Al Udeid Air Base near the Qatari capital, Doha. In addition, all U.S. Navy vessels departed the key Manama port in Bahrain. The two bases were likely emptied due to their proximity to Iran.
The situation at other key U.S. regional bases, including Camp Arifjan in Kuwait and Al Dhafra Air Base in the United Arab Emirates, remains unclear
Iran has already warned Arab states, especially in the Persian Gulf, against aiding any U.S. attack against it, and while Arab leaders appear to be worried about the escalation caused by Israel, there is very little they could do in the way of preventing Washington from using their territories.
Recent reports revealed that Gulf Arab states intensified their outreach to Washington and Tehran over the past week to de-escalate. However, it is highly unlikely the administration of President Donlad Trump will take the interests of its Arab allies into consideration when making a decision on Iran.
