An unknown person with a knife killed one and wounded 5 others in central London.

The attacker was a 19-year-old man. According to the police, most likely, he suffers from mental disorder. At the same time, the police do not rule out the version of the terrorist attack.

The attack took place late on Wednesday at Russell Square, which is located in the central part of the British capital. The man started to knife passers. Policemen, arrived at the scene, found six victims. Later, one of them, a 60-year-old woman, died.

The attacker was detained at the scene of the incident. Now, he is in hospital in London detention center. There is little information about the identity of the attacker. The police reported that he is 19 years old and, most likely, he suffers from mental illness. There is no information about a possible connection of the attacker with Islamists.

A police spokesman noted that the version of the terrorist attack is not excluded. Now, the investigation is assigned to the Division for Criminal Offenses, however, anti-terrorism unit have been also called for participation.

Security measures in the center of London have been enhanced; about 600 members of power ministries are patrolling the streets now. The police stressed that it is just “a precaution”, and there is no data on the preparation of new attacks.
