The Libyan National Army (LNA) is slowly developing its advance towards the coastal city of Sirte, which is being controlled armed factions formally associated with the US-backced Government of National Accord (GNA). However, in fact, these armed groups are not controled by the GNA. Therefore, the entire “GNA-held” area in northern Libya is controlled by various rival factions competing each against others.

Over the past few days, the LNA has got control of the village of Wadi al-Amra and deployed near the village of Suitan. Despite these developments, it’s unlikely that the LNA will reach the vicinity of Sirte anytime soon. Most of LNA forces are now focused on the ongoing operation in southern Libya where they are battling Chadian militants and local gangs.
