Carrier strike group (CSG) is an operational formation of the United States Navy. It is centered on an aircraft carrier and a carrier air wing of 65 to 70 aircrafts. It’s composed of roughly 7,500 personnel, an aircraft carrier, at least one cruiser, a destroyer squadron of at least two destroyers and/or frigates. A carrier strike group also, on occasion, includes submarines, attached logistics ships and a supply ship. Carrier strike groups comprise a principal element of U.S. power projection over the world’s oceans

The word carrier can be freely interchanged any time you want with the phrase “sitting duck”. Since the sinking of the Moskva, it’s evident that high speed missiles win against slow moving ships. The fact is, countries can parade around these carrier groups as if it was 1945, but modern missiles have changed that dynamic. Even the way these carrier group need a group to protect them, is an admission that the nations that own them have buyer’s remorse and are afraid to deploy them

Moskva was sunk by an internal fire.

No missile damage seen on the few photos i have seen, there are rings of soot all around the torpedo tubes, meaning fire was from the inside.

Case closed.

That being said, your 100% correct that Onix missiles would make minced meat of these CSG.

Every air (or otherwise military) base is a “sitting duck” (unless extremely secret and/or underground, I guess) but carriers are much less “sitting” and much more “duck” than static land bases. It’s hard to imagine how a naval power can project force far away from home or allied/vassal bases without them. And THE naval power is the USA.

A power with few or none of these cannot project force in that 75% of Earth that is covered in salty water… unless it has static bases nearby, which are not any less “sitting ducks” than these fleets.

Can you even conceive the US Empire (NATO-plus) without these carrier groups?

If the US/UK/israhell-organistion, Nato, decides to attack Russia, which isn’t impossible. Remember that the senile American president, who no longer can remember the names of most of the members of his staff, which enrages him, and this rage he cannot control, (a common problem if you are senile), supports the nuclear first-strike option. Vladimir Putin, on the other hand, does not. But if he had to, really really had to, due intel he’d just received, what would he do? I think that he seriously would consider sinking all those gigantic floating coffins, every single one of them … if he knew what was coming his way. And then, of course, he could also send a dozen or so of his super-duper torpedoes towards the west coast (and east coast, if needed) of America, which, as we all know, are more or less impossible to intercept by the US. Just some of the great options that are at his disposal, if the Nato scumbags are foolish enough to poke the bear a little bit more.
