On March 4, a spokesman of the Libyan National Army (LNA), Brigadier General Ahmad al-Musmari, announced that different parties are set to meet in the Egyptian capital of Cairo soon to discuss the unification of Libyan military forces, according to Erem News.
Over the last few months, Cairo has hosted five similar meetings between representatives of the LNA, the Libyan Government of National Accord (LGNA) and several other Libyan parties.
Brig. Gen. al-Masmari revealed that the sides had agreed during the last meeting in Cairo on March 1 that the General Commander of the LNA, Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, will be a top commander of the soon to come unified Libyan military force.
Meanwhile, LGNA president Fayez al-Sarraj stressed during a meeting with the LGNA representatives in the Cairo talks that the unification of the military forces “is an absolutely necessary to secure borders and comforting the challenges facing Libya,” according to the Egyptian newspaper al-Dustour.
The LNA is the biggest military force in Libya. It’s followed by forces of the LGNA, the Libya Shield Force (LSF) and the Libya Revolutionaries Operations Room (LROR).
The unification of the military forces in Libya will for sure decrease the level of violence in the war-torn country and may expand the fight against terrorism. However, many observers doubt that the LNA and the LGNA are ready for such a step, as they don’t share the same ideology or goals.
According to Al-Masdar News, the LNA is negotiating with Russian government about building the Russian military base in Libya! Great news!
Good to hear that.
Where are the guys of the “National transition council” that said that Gadafi bombed his people ???? Normally, they should have ruled the country after. But, like Basma Kodmani in Syria, these people are paid to betrayed their people.
So, tell us where are those guys ?
Maybe they pulled an Al Nusra and rebranded themselves several times over?
They were not AL Nustra. They were f…ing stupid people that love money more than their people.
I wonder where they are now. They have dissapear just like Basma Kodmani and Al Baghdadi.
What is clear is that these people will never live in “democracy” and will never choose their leaders. First, because they are sunnis and so they will make endless war to achieve nothing. Second, nbecasue, the west will never ever let them to choose their leaders.
Just, like Mossadegh was toppled by CIA in Iran, it’s the same in Libya.
And, also, remember the leader of the Ukraine “revolution”, Timoshenko. In 2017, she said “If we do not hold early parliamentary and presidential elections, I am afraid that by 2019, there will be nothing left of Ukraine. That which the majority of Verkhovna Rada Deputies are doing the Ukrainians – that’s no way to live.”. Then, she added “I get the impression that the authors of these reforms in Ukraine want to leave no more than 10 million citizens living here”. XD.
I think that she had never heard about Nuland. XD
Which one are the good guys? At this point I expected or thought that Libya was full of terrorist after what happened in 2011 to that great leader/president.
