Libyan National Army Captures Two Military Bases South Of Tripoli (Videos, Photos)

The Libyan National Army (LNA) resumed its advance towards the country’s capital, Tripoli, on April 10 and captured the bases of the 42nd Battalion and the 4th Brigade south of the city. The first base is located near the town of Ain Zara, while the second is stationed in the outskirt of the town of Aziziya.

According to the UAE-based Sky News Arabia TV, the LNA captured loads of weapons and ammunition, which were stored inside the two bases by forces loyal to the Libyan Government of National Accord (LGNA).

The LNA’s media office released two videos showing the captured bases. In the videos, several destroyed vehicles of pro-LGNA forces can be seen.

In response to this advance, warplanes of the LGNA’s air force carried out a series of airstrikes on LNA forces in the town of Qasr bin Ghashir, south of Tripoli. According to the army, the airstrikes resulted in civilian casualties.

“An airstrike targeted the house of the Milad al-Shamit family, resulting in loses in lives and properties … Our response will be fierce,” a short press release by the LNA media office reads.

Earlier this week, pro-LGNA forces recaptured several positions, including the international airport, south of Tripoli from the LNA. However, the army reorganized its troops, deployed new reinforcements and resumed its rapid advance.

Great photos. Their army must is trained.

At first it may be hard to know who to root for, but a little investigation shows:
1–The US — which destroyed Libya in 2011, killing Ghaddafi — supports the LGNA (Libyan Govt of Natl Accord)
2–The LGNA includes Salafis, ie, jihadists who had been banned under Ghadaffi.
3–Haftar’s LNA fought radical Salafi groups after the overthrow of Ghadaffi. There are essentially no Salafis in his army.
4–Russia supports Haftar. I am guessing that at some point, they will openly send him arms and provide air support if necessary.
If you still don’t know who to root for, just ask.

MADE MAKER

If you can tell me who is keeping and Selling AFRICANS as SLAVES in LIBYA ?

I happen to be translating this story from this site:
https://lenta.ru/articles/2017/11/27/libya_downfall/ If you don’t read Russian, it will be up tomorrow at http://www.newsilkstrategies.com in the news and analysis sectrion.
Hint: it is not Haftar’s group. This is the work of Salafist jihadi thugs that Haftar is fighting.

DontBelieveEitherPropaganda

True.. Though i guess Russia wont provide any open support. And that is only clever, because otherwise the US would use this as propaganda. A la “Haftar the Russian puppet” etc.
So good Russia supports them more or less covertly, and not too open.

Ronald

Just a bit to add;
Correct, the LGNA are Salafist, on the Muslim Brotherhood side of the coin.
Egypt have been backing the LNA as they are not keen on the Muslim Brotherhood ruling neighboring Libya after being deceived by Morsi.

The time of support is over, that of self-determination has arrived.
