وافقت الحكومة اللبنانية في 7 أغسطس على خطة اقترحتها الولايات المتحدة ستؤدي في نهاية المطاف إلى نزع سلاح حزب الله بحلول نهاية السنة.
الخطة مبنية على مقترح قدمه المبعوث الأمريكي توماس باراك. يشمل المقترح خارطة طريق لنزع سلاح حزب الله بالكامل، مقابل أن توقف إسرائيل ضرباتها على لبنان وتنسحب قواتها من المواقع الخمسة التي تشغلها في جنوب لبنان.
في مؤتمر صحفي عقد عقب اجتماع مجلس الوزراء، قال وزير الإعلام بول موركوس إن الحكومة قبلت مبادئ المقترح الأمريكي، بما في ذلك «انتهاء تدريجي لوجود الجماعات المسلحة غير الحكومية في البلاد، بما في ذلك حزب الله، شمالاً وجنوباً من نهر الليطاني»، لكنه أوضح أن التفاصيل الكاملة للخطة لم تُناقَش بعمق.
ومن المبادئ التي وافقت عليها لبنان أيضاً، وفقاً للوزير، «ضمان انسحاب إسرائيل من الأراضي اللبنانية ووقف جميع الأعمال العدائية، بما في ذلك الانتهاكات البرية والجوية والبحرية»، إضافة إلى إنشاء حدود دائمة بين إسرائيل ولبنان وبين سوريا ولبنان.
خرج وزراء حزب الله وحلفاؤهم الشيعة من مناقشات المجلس، لكن يبدو أن ذلك لم يكن كافياً لوقف بقية الأعضاء من الموافقة على الخطة.
سُئل عن كيفية تنفيذ نزع سلاح حزب الله في ضوء رفض المجموعة التعاون، فقال موركوس إن القرارات ستنفذ وفق خطة ستقدمها الجيش اللبناني بحلول نهاية أغسطس، وستشمل جدولاً زمنياً لنزع السلاح بحلول نهاية السنة.
وفي اليوم السابق، حذّرت المجموعة الحكومة من قبول الخطة، ووصفتها بأنها «خطأ جسيم» يضر بسيادة البلد.
من جانبه، باراك أشاد بما وصفه بأنه قرار «تاريخي» اتخذته لبنان بالموافقة على الخطة الأمريكية.
في منشور له على X، هنّأ باراك القادة اللبنانيين «على اتخاذهم هذا الأسبوع القرار التاريخي والجريء والصحيح لبدء التنفيذ الكامل» للاتفاق على وقف إطلاق النار. «قرارات مجلس الوزراء هذا الأسبوع وضعت أخيراً حلّ ‘أمة واحدة، جيش واحد’ للبنان موضع التنفيذ. نحن نقف وراء الشعب اللبناني.»
اندلعت احتجاجات محدودة مؤيدة لحزب الله في ضواحي العاصمة بيروت الجنوبية، عقب الموافقة على الخطة الأمريكية.
استناداً إلى «مصادر سياسية» مطلعة على المسألة، قالت صحيفة الأخبار المؤيدة لحزب الله إن المجموعة وحلفاءها قد يردون على الخطة بسحب وزرائهم الأربعة من الحكومة أو تحريك اقتراع سحب الثقة في البرلمان من خلال الكتلة الشيعية، التي تتكوّن من 27 من أصل 128 نائباً لبنانياً.
بينما كانت الحكومة تقر الخطة، قتلت غارة إسرائيلية على شرق لبنان ستة أشخاص. وتذكر الوكالة الوطنية للإعلام أن الغارة أصابت مركبة في المنطقة قرب معبر حدودي مع سوريا.
في نهاية المطاف، قد تكون لبنان على حافة صراع داخلي، وهو صراع قد يحقق فائدة كبيرة لإسرائيل. حزب الله قد يفضل المخاطرة بمثل هذا الصراع، أو حتى في حرب جديدة مع إسرائيل، على تسليم أسلحته.

when hezbollah is disarmed bibi will invade lebanon and take the southern area and annex it to make it the greater israel. lebanon has no army, air foce, navy or air defense and with hezbollah gone bibi will find nothing to stop him!
it will give them high vantage points for radar stations, create a chain of surveillance stations and bases all the way to the golan and all that water from the litani river. the northern banks will serve as a buffer zone. lebanese leadership is made of the same stuff as the ukrainian one.
