Kurdish YPG Repels Attack Of Turkish-backed Militant Groups In Northern Aleppo

On Monday, the Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG) and Jaish Al Thowar repelled an attack by the Turkish-backed militant groups of Ahrar al-Sham, Sultan Murad and Jabhat al-Shamia on the villages of Tal Refa’at and Al-Sheikh Issa.

The clashes had been ongoing for more than 6 hours. Separately, YPG fighters managed to target a Turkish army position in Mara’ village while militants of Jabhat al-Shamia destroyed two bulldozers belonging to the YPG with Konkurs anti-tank guided missiles in Al-Sheikh Issa and Ain Dukna.

The Turkish-Kurdish tension raised again after the Turkish Army deployed large forces in the areas of Kielis, Hitai and Al-Dulbah near the border with the Syrian province of Idlib.

At the same time, sources linked with the US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) claimed that the Turkish forces in Jarablus and Al-Bab arrested a number of civilians on charges of communication with the SDF – the YPG is a core of the SDF.

On Monday, according to local sources, 930 refugees arrived from the areas controlled by Turkish-backed militants to the YPG-heled area of Afrin. It is believed that there are now over 300 thousand refugees in the YPG-held area. A large part of them fled the areas under control of pro-Turkish militants in northern Aleppo, including the towns of Al-Bab and Jarablus. The reason is a corruption, crimes and endless harassments against civilians in the Turkish-occupied area, according to local sources.

Turkish backed FSA are idiots.
If they want to die attacking Afrin, let them.
They are no match for the Kurds.

I wonder why so many refugees headed to Afrin when Manbij seems quite a bit better protected. And what exactly are these corruptions, crimes and harassments driving civilians out of Al-Bab?

Akar

Most of the refuges are kurds escaping slaughter, Turkish backed are driving the kurdish population out of the these areas, these kurds have no choice but to escape to Afrin. There are large kurdish population in turkey and in northern syria bordering turkey. Same thing happen in Manbij and near Raqqa, the YPG wanted to bring the kurdish population back like before. In Tal Abyad turkey complained about YPG kicking out arabs which was true, but Turkey didn’t say those arabs that was kicked was because they had stolen houses from kurds, assyrians, armenians and other who escaped 2 year before, turkey wants to change the demographic from kurds to turkmen or arabs and The crime part is killing civilians without a trial, example a turkish backed rebel can shot anyone without consequence. I hope I gave you some info.

Jonathan Cohen

Sounds to me like they should go ahead and swap places and houses, though like in Palestine, If they vindictively destroy their houses as they leave, then of course they cannot swap them. So can civilians transfer from Afrin to say, YPG held Tabqa via SAA terrotory? I think I heard the road was open to civilians.

Akar

the fighters in Afrin have no where to escape and they are sorrounded. They have no choice but to defend it, Its not like YPG have super power or anything, but they are some tought strong mother fucker that would fight hard. Afrin would be very hard to capture, any attacks on Afrin will end up in failure that is for sure.

Cassandra

Actually, the Kurds respect mothers, including the ancient Mother Goddess.

I would hope that Russia follows the American example ,( in eastern Kurdish territory) and puts armored troops along the border with Turkey to prevent further Turkish encroachment of Syrian territory .

Alex Black

Once Daesh is finished, and the southern border is secured, all turks on Syrian soil should be hunted down.
